January 14 of every year has always been about a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the immediate past Executive Chairman, Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) Chief Dr. Akin Fagbemi PhD, AciArB FNIFST.
Over the years Fagbemi has made it a habit to celebrate the day with prayers and lots of charity work through his NGO, Akin Fagbemi Foundation, and this year’s is no exception. He has identified his special area of calling which is to serve his people and has never deviated from it.
At 47, Akin Fagbemi has achieved so much. He’s a Colossus. He has achieved greater heights that have been hitatho believed to be impossible by many.
Fagbemi not only possesses impressive and intimidating academic qualifications but is also successful in both public and private life. He has made indelible marks in every position he has ever found himself. In fact, it won’t be out of place to say that Fagbemi has seen it all in life even at his age. He’s doing fine, his political career has been on the rise, he is a potential Olubadan as the Mogaji of his family house.
What else could a man ask for in life at this stage than to dedicate his knowledge, experience and wealth to serve humanity. That exactly is what Akin Fagbemi is known for and has been doing over the years.
Born to the family of Fagbemi, Alekuso, Ibadan Northwest Local Government Area of Oyo State, Dr. Akintomide Stephen Fagbemi is Mogaji Agunleyinju Compound, Beere, Ibadan.
He’s a seasoned scientist with a PhD in Food Biotechnology with a research interest in metagenomics and molecular characterization of plants from one of Nigeria’s foremost University of Technology, after earning a Master of Science Degree in Food Processing and Preservation, PostGraduate Diploma in Nutrition, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Certificate in International Food Law, Michigan State University, USA.
Fagbemi is the former National Secretary of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), former Assistant National Secretary, and former National President of the Students’ Body (NAFSTS, 2001/2002). He is currently a Council Member of the Institute he joined as a student over two decades ago and had risen through the ranks to attain the highest cadre as FELLOW of
the Institute.
Fagbemi has a Master of Science Degree in Public Policy, a Master of Science Degree in Safety Technology Management, Leadership Certificate in Criminal and Security Intelligence Management, Defense Intelligent College, Abuja.
Professional Diploma in Data Science, Certificate in Advanced Project Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (PMEL), African University of Science and Technology, Abuja. Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, Ghana. Certificate in Quantitative Risk Assessment in Food Safety, University of Maryland, USA.
He is a Research Fellow at the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA, Ibadan). Certificate in SQF System Implementation (Post Farm Gate), SQF Institute U.S.A. Certificate in Advanced Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), International HACCP Alliance U.S.A. Certificate in Advanced Programme in Corporate Sustainability Management from the Nigerian Premier Citadel of Higher Learning, the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, to mention but a few.
Fagbemi seems to be insatiable in pursuing academic excellence. He is almost done with a Bachelor of Law degree in Public and International Law with a special focus on International Food Law and Legislations.
He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (United Kingdom). A Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Supervision and Leadership, a Member, Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), USA, a Member Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (BSN), a Member, Nutrition Society of Nigeria, a Member, International Association of Research Scholars & Fellows among several other professional bodies both at home
and abroad.
He is an internationally certified food and drug regulatory and enforcement expert, a seasoned technocrat and a former senior officer with Nigeria’s topmost regulatory agency, the National Agency for Food & Drugs Administration and Control and Evaluation (PR&S). Directorate at the Corporate Headquarters, Abuja with tested skills to perform such roles as conducting operations research to inform policy formulation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), carrying out Food Safety and Risk Assessment with GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICES (GMP) in both local and International food processing companies in Nigeria, Canada, South Africa, USA, China, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Brazil amongst others.
In private practice, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi ventured into the private sector with business interests spanning the real estate and manufacturing sectors and consequently providing not less than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs to Nigerians as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Primeage Investment and Properties Limited, Abuja prior his sojourn in partisan politics.
Politically, as a young, energetic and dynamic administrator cum politician of high repute, Dr. Fagbemi was in 2019 appointed Deputy Director General (South), Oyo State PDP Campaign Council in the election that ushered in the superlative administration of His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, The Executive Governor of Oyo State under Omituntun 1.0.
On the assignment as Deputy DG, PDP recorded an unprecedented sterling performance by securing the highest number of votes in all local governments across the Oyo South Senatorial District.
This resounding victory culminated in his appointment by Governor Seyi Makinde as a Member of the Swearing-in and Hand-over Committee, Member of, 2022 PDP Special National Convention Electoral Committee, National Delegate, PDP Presidential Primary Elections, Member, the 2022 Kebbi State Senatorial District Congress Electoral
Committee.
In the build-up to the 2023 general elections, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi was appointed once again by Governor Seyi Makinde as Director, Field Operations of the á¹¢eyi Makinde/PDP 2023 Governorship Campaign Council in Oyo State
It is no news that the 2023 election outcome was unprecedented in the annals of political contest
ever since the creation of Oyo State Governor Makinde got a resounding and almost unanimous applause of Oyo State electorates to continue his mandate under Omituntun 2.0 which now focuses on a holistic Sustainable Development of the State.
OYRTMA under Fagbemi was rated and awarded as the best Agency of the Oyo State government.
As a known lover of youth, sports and its development, Fagbemi was 2022 appointed under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde as Chairman, Oyo State Karate Association as well as Chairman, Oyo State Lawn Tennis Association.

Not only that, Dr Fagbemi is a renowned philanthropist and Chairman of the Akin Fagbemi Foundation, an NGO with a special focus on helping indigent students, the aged, widows and the less privileged in society since 2005.
So far, the foundation has awarded not less than 1,000 scholarships and support to students studying within and outside the country in addition to over 10,000 aged beneficiaries of multifaceted empowerment programs and initiatives executed in Oyo, Sokoto, Kano, FCT, Ekiti and Niger states.
Fagbemi has to his credit numerous awards and accolades from both local and international organizations including but not limited to United Nation’s Ambassador of Peace, 2020; Oyo State Ambassador of the NDLEA on fight against Illicit Drugs: 2022; 2nd Prize Winner, Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) and 3rd Dr. I.A. Akinrele Competition on Challenges Facing Nigeria Food Industries, 2002.
Others are Distinguished Service Award by the Centre for Leadership and Good Governance, 2017; Public Service Award, Nigerian Union of Journalists, 2021; NDLEA Grand Ambassador in Oyo State; 2022. And most recently Nigeria’s top ten most ethically responsible/corrupt-free CEOs have been covertly accessed by the revered Centre for Ethics & Self-Value Orientation on the thematic areas of Dedication to Humanity Service, Public Accessibility, Self-discipline, Integrity, Emotional intelligence, service compliance, Honesty, Staff Discipline/ Welfare, Innovation, Efficiency,
National Interest Consideration, Ethical Uprightness, Quality Assurance in Project implementation and due process application among other variables.
Fagbemi is also a well-published academic researcher with publications too numerous to mention. Apart from his many successes, Fagbemi above all is a family man to the core and detribalized Nigerian. He is happily married to a beautiful Chattered Auditor in the oil and gas corporate world from the South-South part of the Country.
