  • Reveals Her Love Story With ABUJA Big Boy, HAKEEM FOLARIN

Princess Teju Adeyemi is one of the pretty daughters of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi. She got married last Saturday, 21st July 2018 to Hakeem Adesina Folarin at the Aganju Royal Forecourt, Alaafin’s Palace in Oyo town. Groom, on Abuja based businessman is the son of Alhaji & Alhaja Julili Ademola Folarin (MON). The couple had a colourful Nikkah & Wedding ceremony. A few days to the wedding Teju spoke to City People about her life and what makes her different from other Princesses. She is the younger sister of Princess Sade Adeyemi. My name is Adeteju Rukayat Adeyemi. I am a Princess. The daughter of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi. I schooled in Oyo.

I went to Federal Government Girls College, Oyo. Then I went to Bowen University where I studied Mass Communications I did my Masters at the University of Ibadan in Industrial & Personnel Relations. I worked with Federal College of Education for about 5 years as an Admin Officer.”

You are a Princess. What does it take to be a Princess. “It’s just about being yourself, humility. Every lady is a Princess on their own. As a Princess you have to be simple. You have to present yourself well to people. You have to be yourself.” In your case, you are a different kind of Princess. You are the daughter of the Alaafin of Oyo, Iku Babayeye, so its a big deal. How does it make you feel? “I don’t know what makes it a big deal. But yes the status of my father puts you under pressure and puts you out there in the limelight. Sometimes I don’t want people to know me only because of my dad. I want people to see me as an individual, as myself.

I want people to relate with me  as my own self, as Teju, not as a Princess of Oyo, or as the daughter of a King”. Are you saying people knowing you as a Princess does not help or open doors for you? “It does. I am n ot doubting that. Atimes it does not also. Sometimes it does. But even when it does, you still have to prove who you are  or do a lot to maintain who you claim you are. Your behaviour matters. Your behaviour counts. You need to prove yourself. You need to relate with people and show who you are, really”.

Her marriage is just a few days away. How did she fall in love. She smiles. “My husband-to-be’s name is Hakeem Folarin. I met him through my cousin. He stays in Abuja. We’ve been dating for about 2 years now. I went to drop something for my cousin then we met. Since then he has been telling all my friends that he is going to marry me. Even when we met. Barely a month after we met he kept on telling me he would marry me. He kept on saying this is my wife.  I am going to marry this girl I used to laugh at him. Each time he says it, I am always like-look at this guy. Do I know you. What I like about him is that he is a good person. He is understanding. He is nice. Thats all.
