On Sunday, November 10, 2024, members of Raodatul Jannati Islamic Society of Nigeria, a popular Asalatu Group located in Egbeda, Lagos gathered to mark a significant milestone: the installation of their new Ameerah, Alhaja Mariam Omowunmi Oyinoza Ibrahim. This event was both celebratory and poignant as members welcomed a new chapter of leadership following the passing of their former president.
The newly installed Ameerah, Alhaja Mariam Oyinoza Ibrahim, is a distinguished businesswoman known for her success in the jewelry trade. Her appointment makes her only the second Ameerah of the society, underscoring the growing legacy of female leadership in the group.
The installation ceremony was held at Primal Tek Plaza, opposite Gowon Estate Market in Egbeda, Lagos State. The event saw the conferment of another honorary title—Patron of the society—on Alhaja Fauziyat Sado, elder sister to the new Ameerah. Alhaja Sado has provided unwavering support to the society over the years, and both sisters were celebrated as members of Raodatul Jannati turned out in full force to honor them.
A central theme of the event was the society’s ambitious plan to raise 50 million Naira towards the establishment of a permanent Islamic center. This new facility would serve as a foundation for the society’s many religious and community-focused initiatives. The society’s leaders appealed to guests for support in reaching this target, supplementing the 20 million Naira already contributed by members. Many guests responded generously, bringing the dream closer to reality.
The ceremony reached a high point as Alhaja Mariam was officially adorned with her new title by His Royal Majesty Oba Samuel Olusegun Shobowale Benson, the Olojodu of Ojodu. The occasion was graced by a large assembly of family, friends, and well-wishers, who came clad in vibrant attire—gold-on-gold for the women and gold caps on white for the men. Together, they celebrated the new Ameerah’s journey with heartfelt joy and admiration.
Adding to the day’s vibrancy was a performance by renowned Islamic singer Alhaji Wasiu Kayode As-Siddiq, popularly known as “Baba n’ Waka.” His music filled the air with excitement as guests and members alike took to the dance floor, reveling in the festive atmosphere.
