Chief Julie Coker, Iya Eto of Lagos,will clock 80 years on Saturday. Happy birthday to her.
She won the 1960 MISS WESTERN NIGERIA INDEPENDENCE QUEEN COMPETITION, went on to become one of the versatile and beautiful faces and golden voices on Africa’s 1st television station,the Western Nigeria Television (WNTV,Ibadan),which started transmission on 31st October, 1959.
Chief Coker later joined the former Nigerian Television Service,(NTV,Lagos)now called the Nigerian Television Authority(NTA),from where she retired as the Head of Presentations.
Chief Coker and my humble self are respectfully close and,as they say,”mutual paddies.”
She honoured me in 2010,when she invited me to chair her 70th birthday reception in London,United Kingdom.
