Holds Book Presentation and Humanitarian Awards
Seeks ₦250 Million to Empower Orphans and Widows
Amofaks Foundation Incorporation, a leading non-governmental organization, officially launched its operations in Nigeria on Thursday, February 27, 2025, with a grand 3-in-1 event in Lagos. Held at Martinos Hotels and Events Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, the event featured the foundation’s official inauguration, a book presentation, and a humanitarian awards ceremony.
The event was graced by distinguished Nigerians known for their impactful contributions to society. Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, a member of the Lagos State Government Advisory Council, served as Chairman of the day, while Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Director General of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, delivered the keynote address. Both were represented at the event.
Notable guests included: Royal Father of the Day: HRM Oba Mohammed Morufdeen Atanda, Oluwa of Iwa and Papa Kingdom, Otunba Omotiloye of Emuren Kingdom, Otunba Abdul-Wasi Omogbolahan Yusuf, Alhaji AbdulWahab Onaolapo, Mr. Tunde Balogun, Prof. Kayode Ogunsanwo, Hon. Abbass Wasiu Adewale, Hon. Ms. Damilola Otunanjo, Mrs. Iyabode Egberongbe, Alhaja R. Olayokun, among others.
In his welcome address, Amofaks Foundation President, Alhaji Adebola Sanusi, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to alleviating the struggles of orphans and widows. He revealed ambitious plans to enroll at least 1,000 orphans in schools and vocational training centers in 2025, empower hundreds of widows through business grants and financial aid and also Provide sustainable livelihood programs to enhance their quality of life.
As part of its mission, the foundation launched the ₦250 million Amofaks Orphans & Widows Empowerment Fund, with dignitaries making generous contributions.
The Amofaks Humanitarian Awards 2025 recognized individuals and organizations making significant impacts:
- Beacon of Compassion Award
Dr. Adebola Akindele (Courtville Business Solutions, PLC.), Ustaz Jamiu Adegunwa and Otunba Abdul-Wasi Omogbolahan Yusuf.
- Champion of Compassion Awards were given to Dr. Oriyomi Rahman Hazmat (CEO, Agidigbo FM, Ibadan) and Barr. Oluwafunmilola Oluwatosin Adeogun (Founder, Funmi Adeogun Foundation)
- Pillar of Compassion Award (Given to 13 Orphanage Homes). They are Love Home Orphanage, Oyiza Orphanage Home, Adult Oladibo Orphanage Home, Ibadan, Bab Es-Salaam Orphanage, Peace of Life Orphanage Home, Comforter Rescue Mission and Orphanage Home, Vow Hope Orphanage, Tower of Refuge Orphanage Home, Heart of Gold Children Hospice, Bales of Mercy Orphanage, Mother Theresa Orphanage Home, Little Saints Orphanage, and Heritage Homes Orphanage
Award recipients were recognized for their dedication to serving vulnerable children, with the honor inspiring them to continue their humanitarian work.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of The Plight of an Orphan, authored by Alhaji Adebola Sanusi. Otunba Femi Oyetayo, Executive Director of New Age Publishers Limited, reviewed the book, commending its profound storytelling on struggles, resilience, and hope among orphans.
Sanusi shared that his personal experiences and encounters with orphans and widows fueled his passion for the cause. He emphasized that all proceeds from the book’s sales, donations, and partnerships would be directly invested in orphaned children’s futures.
The event was anchored by renowned Faaji FM presenter Dayo Amusan, whose professionalism ensured a seamless and engaging experience for all attendees.
