APC NWC Cancels Zamfara State Primaries

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the cancellation the Zamfara state governorship primary election as a result of violence which it said marred the conduct of the primary.

The Prof. Abubakar Faki-led Zamfara State Governorship Primaries Committee had announced the cancellation of the primaries, accusing officials of the state government of snatching election materials and result sheets which it said were taken to the Government House, Gusau.

The said this action led to widespread malpractices and violence.

Acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena said in a statement that the National Working Committee will announce a new date for the primary, pointing out that the leadership of the party was committed to free, fair and transparent primaries across the country.

Similarly, the party has fixed Friday, 5th October for the conduct of the senatorial primary in Niger state.

Sen. David Umar, Sen. Dr A.S Abdullahi and Sen. Mustapha Sani Mohammed have been cleared by the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to contest the primaries.
