I tried so hard to stifle the laughter but alas,it found a medium to creep from the bottom of my stomach to my throat, escaping out of my mouth…Nothing could hold it back, so I shrieked like a crazy woman.
“But Dewumi, have you been in such a situation before”, he inquired in an emotion-laden voice.I couldn’t stop the tears that trickled down my face.
This guy,a friend of mine was desperately in search of lifetime partner. He met a “Slayer” on Social media. They became friends and after chatting for few weeks,he decided to meet her in person and he invited her to dinner at Intercontinental Hotel. Like a Gentleman,he got there before the scheduled time and decided to have a drink at the Bar to calm down his jumpy nerves. He was meeting a big time Slayer for the first time…A “presumed” intelligent, clean Career babe.
The meet became exciting when she called to announce her arrival. He told her he was at the Bar.He said he turned and was on the look out for her.Well,a lady walked towards him with a smile on her face.He smiled back out of courtesy. He was agitated when the lady excitedly greeted him, “Kunle(not real name),good evening”. So surprised, he inquired how she knew his name….And she introduced herself! ” Hell NO”..He couldn’t conceal his shock!.
“Dewumi,I swear to Almighty God.This “woman” doesn’t look like the Slayer on Facebook. It took me almost an hour to detect faint similarities between her and the Slayer. She was looking so tarty in her cheap outfit.I had to even cajole her to speak “Yoruba” language because she found it difficult expressing herself in English language…In fact, she is the kind of cheap woman you take to Mr.Biggs”,he croaked as he loosen his tie. Well, some ladies find themselves in such scam also.I have heard of a Mechanic who gave a false impression, and represented himself as an Engineer until the lady met with him. At first glance and subsequent interaction it was deduced that Bros na ” Funky Meko”. So much deceits, expectations and deflated hopes on Social Media. What you see may not be what you get…Caveat emptor applies.
