Christmas 2020: We Should be Thankful, in spite of all…- Otunba Gbenga Daniel

by Reporter

Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba (Engr.) Gbenga Daniel has said that notwithstanding the challenges posed by the Covid-19 Pandemic, attendant economic hardships and the EndSARS protests Nigerians have more than enough reasons to thank God for in the year 2020.

Otunba Daniel in his Christmas message released on Thursday, said “against forecasts and projections the pandemic have been relatively managed in Nigeria as both fatalities and casualties that could have stretched out medical facilities beyond limits were greatly averted.

“This was far beyond our capacity and imagination, but the fact that God understands our limitations and spreads his banner of love over us like a canopy to protect us from the biting effect of the pandemic. We have very many reasons to be thankful to Him.

“The year 2020 no doubt came with its own challenges like any other, and some of them appear insurmountable, but the Lord of Christmas, the foundation of which is in Love and Salvation rose on Nigeria’s behalf to avert calamities and gave a promising prospect of a brighter 2021.

The birth of Christ was significant about Hope of Salvation and Glory after death. It is about God’s love for His children even in a world of sin and a promise of redemption from that sin.

“As we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, this lessons should not be lost on us, especially the redemption which the birth of Christ brough to mankind and be thankful to God in hope that our nation will see a brighter day tomorrow which starts in just few days in 2021.

“I wish all Christians in Nigeria and especially in Ogun State a Happy Christmas, while admonishing us to celebrate in moderation in compliance with all safety and preventive protocols of COVID-19 against the spread.”
