The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) held its 12th Biennial Honours Night 2017 yesterday, Friday 26th May, 2017 at the prestigious Sheraton Hotel & Towers Ikeja, Lagos.
With a number of categories and nominees to battle out, CITY PEOPLE MAGAZINE was rewarded the BEST PRINT MEDIA for their robust reporting of the sector.
The Chairman of the event, ESV. Offiong Samuel Ukpong (FNIVS) during his speech said, “Nobel Colleagues and our very distinguished guests, if i ask you, which of the print media has the highest penetration and reach, our awardee in the print media category may not be in your contemplation. But i wish to observe that i personally was surprised by the comment that came from the public about their reach including the Chairman of today’s occasion my loving Managing Director/CEO of Niger Insurance PLC.”
He further revealed saying, “My Managing Director, Mr. D.K. Adedeji observed that this paper is always reporting about our activities. A friend of mine told me that her husband, A judge of Lagos State High Court saw my comment on this paper and agreed with that opinion. The Institution was granted government recognition by the enactment of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers (Registration Act)” Decree No. 24 of 1975.
The first Annual Conference was held at Ibadan in 1969. The Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) is empowered to regulate and control the practice of the profession of Estate Surveying and Valuation in the country. The Institution is affiliated to the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI), Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy (CASLE), International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria(APBN) AND The International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC).
