It was tough trying to get Hon. Shina Abiola-Peller, the former Oyo lawmaker for an exclusive interview. We were on it for months before it clicked a few days ago. After his exit from the Senate race last year, we first approached him for a comprehensive interview. He accepted. But the problem than was how to pin him down to talk. He is always on the move. He operates from four major locations – Abuja. Iseyin, Lagos and London.
And he has a huge followership, which makes it even tougher to get hold of him.
It was a pleasant surprise when a message came last Tuesday that he will be in Lagos and will be ready for the interview.
We went for it last Wednesday at his Eko Atlantic residence in Victoria Island, Lagos. It was the handsome Shina Peller himself that ushered us in. He is well known within the vast estate. He is a VVIP. They all call him by his nick name, SP.
As we settled down to begin the interview we reviewed the questions in our minds. What has he been up to since last year when he was rigged out of the race? Has he gone back to running Quilox?
Is he still into Politics? And many more. As we were about to start, he promptly excused himself to pray. He brought out and laid his persian rug mat to pray for a few minutes.
It was after this that the interview took off.
As we fired the salvo of questions he gave us detailed answers. He didn’t dodge any question. He took them on, in his strides. We found out that nothing has changed about this exciting young man. He has managed to keep his pencil-slim frame intact. He is a man of great satorial elegance. That was so noticeable. He was in a white Buba & Sokoto.
He revealed what he has been up to. He has so many projects he is handling. He has also floated new ones.
Who is Hon. Shina Abiola-Peller, the Ayedero of Yoruba Land? We can tell you about this man who was born on May 14, 1976. He is the Chairman of AQUILA GROUP OF COMPANIES, a multi-billion naira conglomerate with investments in real estate, hospitality, energy, financial services, entertainment and international trade.
The subsidiaries of the group are: Aquila Building and Projects Limited, Aquila Oil and Gas Limited, Aquila Global Resources Limited, Aquila Records, and the prestigious Quilox Bar and Nightclub.
He is a consummate businessman and entrepreneur with over 20 years leadership and management experience. He holds a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
Hon. Peller, is an exceptional philanthropist who is selfless in many ways. Over the years, he has awarded several scholarships and has been involved in various community projects. He is a patron of several local and international charities. His involvement in community development projects and philanthropy led him into partisan, politics.
He is a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Iseyin Itesiwaju Kajola Iwajowa Federal Constituency at the National Assembly from year 2019 to 2023. His notable performance in delivering proper dividends of democracy and creating a proper channel of communication between him and his constituents earned him multiple awards, such as the most Promising House of Representatives Member awarded by the Democracy Heroes Awards, the Peace Builder Award for Excellence in Community Development by Peace Achievers International Award, and many others.
Also, he was awarded by the Nigeria Union of Journalist, as Most Media Friendly Reps Member in 2022.
Hon. Peller’s activeness on the floor of the House was evident in his numerous bills and motions which are masses driven. Also, his constituency outreach has continuously been described by many as noteworthy.
Hon. Peller is the Founder Lead Generation Initiative (LGI), a non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit organization committed to creating opportunities for young Africans to channel their creativity, energy and aspirations to adding values to their communities. The organization develops the interest of youths in governance, social inclusion and participation in the democratic and developmental process of the country.
He is also the National Coordinator of WE2GEDA Nigeria, a movement of millions of young patriotic Nigerians, coming together, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliation, to establish a new united system of leadership comprising young, competent and patriotic leaders for selfless and more effective governance.
Hon. Shina Abiola Peller is happily married to stunning beauty, Ayobola Peller, a Chartered Accountant and Auditor. And they are blessed with 5 children.
