The City People Magazine team, led by the publisher, Dr Seye Kehinde paid a courtesy visit to Mrs. Mistura Asunmo, popularly known as Iya 2D, an 82-year-old veteran actress. Born in Ibadan, Iya 2D has been a prominent figure in the Nigerian theatre industry since she started her acting career in July 15, 1959, when she joined Olubukun, and later moved on to Isho Pepper. She was also a part of Duro Ladipo’s theatre group until his death, an experience she fondly remembers.
During the visit, Iya 2D talked about her journey from theatre to film. She discussed the challenges of stage acting that she believes today’s actors might find difficult. She also shared her experiences with Duro Ladipo, whom she described as a kind and caring man, and Isho Pepper, who she said was accommodating.
Iya 2D is still active in the industry. She recently worked on “Biola Fowosere,” where she appeared in many scenes. She attributes her agility and success to her hard work, healthy lifestyle, and humble nature, which has garnered support from younger generations. She advises upcoming actors to remain patient and committed, as hard work always pays off in the end.
In the Interview Iya 2D also reveals her happiest moments and her most sorrowful experience. To get the full details of the gist, watch out for the video on CityPeopletv YouTube page.
