During the past week, the National President of Gospel Musicians Association of Nigeria {GOMAN), Evang (Dr) Philip Olayiwola celebrated his 60th birthday in style. The church service which took place at the Chapel of Christ the Light International, Alausa, Ikeja, attracted a lot of dignitaries, especially, several gospel music ministers. Music was in the air, in praise and worship of the Almighty, accompanied by a lot of dancing.
Among the dignitaries at the memorable event was Chairman, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), Chief Tony Okoroji, who attended the event alongside another member of the COSON Board, Evang Olusegun Omoyayi, who himself is a prominent gospel music minister.
In his speech at the occasion, Chief Okoroji said that he has a soft spot for GOMAN which was why he had to cancel an important trip to join in the celebration of the GOMAN President. He said that looking back, he was actively involved in the formation of GOMAN, at the time he was President of PMAN, with two members of his executive council, Rev Shola Rotimi and the late Demos Deniran, both successful gospel musicians, playing key roles in the birth of GOMAN.
The COSON Chairman who said that he considers himself a member of GOMAN, praised Evangelist Olayiwola for his commitment to the progress of the association, pledging continued support to GOMAN.
Among the many gospel musicians present at the ceremony, were two past presidents of GOMAN, Pastor Timi Osikoya better known as Telemi, and Evangelist Dr. Funmi Aragbaiye. Also present were the likes of Evang Dupe Olulano and her husband, Kola and the iconic Pastor J.A. Adelakun, the creative genius behind the evergreen song, Amona Tete Mabo. The leadership of GOMAN across different states were also heavily present.
The service masterfully coordinated by the presiding chaplain of the Chapel of Christ the Light International, Rev Oladele Ajayi, will remain in the hearts of all those who attended the 60th Birthday Service of Evang (Dr) Philip Olufemi Olayiwola Pholat.
