A Chief Magistrate court in Agbara Ogun State has ordered the remand of a suspected land grabbing, murderer, theft, (M), popularly known as Baba Isila.
Adekunle was arraigned yesterday over allegations of terrorizing landowners in Ikogbo and Imose communities in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State. Other members who are on the run are Ibraheem Fasasi Bello, Rasaki Odunoye, Taofik Ajose, Azeez Amodu, Sunday Dada, Soliu Odunoye, Mukaila Aliu, Abdulganiyu Adeleke, Amidu Seidu, Mutiu Bello, Solomon Aliya, Ebenezer Olatunji Alagansa, Sodiq Anishere and Shakiru Sunday
The accused is facing a five-count charge of murder, conspiracy to murder, unlawful possession of firearms in suit number MSH/322/2021, and will be remanded in prison pending the Attorney-General’s legal advice.
The charge reads: “That you, Ajose Issac Adekunle (M) a.k.a Baba Isila and others still at large sometimes on or before 23rd of September 2021 at Ikogbo town in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, in the Agbara Magisterial district did unlawfully conspire to commit felony to wit: Attempted murder, murder and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 324of the criminal code of Ogun State of Nigeria 2006.
The second charge reads: “That you, Ajose Issac Adekunle (M), Baba Isila and others still at large on the same day, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district did unlawfully kill Matthew Opaleye, (M), a.k.a Lakuro by matcheting him to death and you willfully and unlawfully destroyed and damaged moulding machine equipment with house building mould blocks value of 3,500,000 (three million, five hundred thousand naira only) property of Olabisi Olayemi Ganiu, (M), the “Olori Odo” of Ikogbo Community and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 451 of the criminal code laws of Ogun State of Nigeria 2006.
The third charge reads: “That you, Ajose Issac Adekunle (M), Baba Isila and others still at large on the same day, time and place in the aforementioned Magistrate District did steal moulding machine for block making, water pumping machine valued 3,000,000 (Three million naira only property of Chief Ganiu Olabisi Olayemi, (M), “Olori Odo” of Ikogbo Community and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 390 of the criminal code laws of Ogun state of Nigeria 2006.
The Prosecutor, A.O Fadipe ESQ, in his ruling, denied the bail application by the accused counsel and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison, pending the Attorney-General’s legal advice.
The lawyer to the suspect, Ade Adisa, pleaded with the court not to grant the remand application, rather the court should consider the age of his client and admit him to bail in the most liberal term
The Magistrate while adjourning the matter till March 17, 2022, for mention, ordered that the suspect be remanded in prison custody
He adjourned a further hearing to March 17, 2022.
