Dear Debbie: My Hubby Has A Baby By My Younger Sister

Dear Debbie,

My name is Julieth and I am 34. I got married in 2013 to James who was at the time, without a job. I have been providing for the family ever since we got married.

Three years ago, I helped him secure a job at a multinational company where I worked as an outsourced consultant.

He began to make good money, so I suggested that I should resign and focus on how we will start raising children; a decision he blatantly refused and maintained that I continue working to gather enough before thinking about children.

In 2015, he suggested I brought my younger sister who had just been posted to Lagos for her NYSC, to the house, so as to help her secure a job on time. I agreed and brought her from Ondo State.

About three months after she concluded her service, my husband suggested again that we send her to Abuja to handle his newly established business in Gwagalada. I agreed and appreciated his kind gesture towards my sister. She has been there for about a year.

Two days ago, I was in my office when my husband called and said I should come home at once from work. He said it is an emergency.

I got home to see my husband and few of his relatives in the sitting room.

I also saw my sister with a 2-month-old baby, sitting close to my husband.

I was informed at the meeting that my sister had a baby for my husband and therefore had become my husband’s second wife.

It dawned more on me when I was asked to resign from my official duty so as to take care of my sister’s baby as she would be going on a business trip with my husband in the United States.

I do not know if I should resign and take care of the child while I allow God take control or I just leave his home and start a new life alone.

I need your help.
