Ikeja is a cosmopolitan city and the quality of service delivery as witnessed by the people in the area is nothing short of phenomenal. It is, therefore, crystal clear that the man at the helm of affairs Dr Mojeed Balogun, the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, is not just a leader but an exceptional leader with clear vision.
Dr Mojeed Alabi Balogun on Monday, September 30th, 2019, proved once again that he is an indisputable pacesetter as he sets an outstanding record of being the first Executive Chairman of the local council, in Lagos state to provide modern –synthetic furniture for both primary and nursery schools.
This was the third phase of the project as Dr Balogun has in the past distributed learning materials to pupils in the Area.
In his address, the hardworking and passion-driven chairman said it was in fulfilment of his electioneering campaign promises to encourage parents and assist pupils by improving the standard of their learning environment. He, therefore, urged both teachers and pupils to take good care of the materials.
The Learning materials which include exercise books and modern –synthetic furniture were the first of its kind. This is not the conventional wooden desks and benches.
Dr Balogun accompanied council legislators and management staff presented the materials to the schools. He said his team would continue to find ways of improving facilities in various schools.
Eight schools benefitted from Dr Balogun’s act of benevolence; (1) Anifowoshe primary school, (2) State primary School, (3)Shogunle primary School, (4)St. Peter Primary School, (5) Tokunbo Ali primary school, (6) Onilekere primary school, (7)Agidingbi Primary School, and (8)Adeniyi Jones Primary School.
The Supervisor for Education, Hon. Taiwo Dania, representative of the Executive Secretary, Ikeja LG, Mrs Awe Olayinka, the CDC Chairman, Alhaji S. Osiberu said that the gesture was laudable and a right step in the right direction. Alhaji Osiberu used the occassion to pledge unflinching support for the Chairman who he called a “game-changer”.
It will be recalled that Dr Balogun had established and set up over 300 people in various crafts and arts through various empowerment programmes recently which earned him the “Overall Best Chairman Award” Poverty Alleviation Category.
