•8 Days After Son, YINKA’s Death

Hearing the news of the death of a child is not something peasant to any parent. It is what no parent prays to witness in their lifetime. The death of Olayinka Obey-Fabiyi, son of the Juju music icon, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi is a sardonic one to the musician and the entire Obey family. They have indeed lost a son, brother and most importantly one of them. Obey-Fabiyi received news of the death of his 48-year-old son on July 28, 2022, while he was far away on a vacation in the UK.

As a man of God and evangelist of Christ, the musician has picked himself up from his mourning mood, picked great lessons from the situation and is ready to reach out to the world. He has set up a solution ministry to free people from alcoholism and drug addiction. This is his own way of impacting society aside from his already established ministry. The Ministry is named “Freedom from Drug Addiction Ministry” (FADAM).

With this, he is fully out to achieve this cause by embarking on a massive campaign to enlighten and educate youths on the dangers of alcoholism as well as drug addiction. He looks forward to addressing victims, especially among young Nigerians and those in the Diaspora.

FADAM was launched on Saturday 6th August 2022 at his residence in the high brow Ibara Housing in Abeokuta Ogun State. The programme was massively attended by members of the public as they are ready to key into the dreams and aspirations of the legendary musician.

During the launching programme, Evangelist Obey said the ministry is birthed in response to the sad news of his deceased son who died due to his excessive intake of alcohol. He revealed that while he was down, mourning his son, the holy spirit inspired him to establish a solution ministry as he was taken through the book of Job 22:21 in the Bible which says “Acquaint now thyself with God, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.” There he got the full message which says; Get out of Alcoholism, Get out of Drugs. Jesus loves you and that he has adopted as a mandate to be fulfilled by the newly launched ministry.

DRADAMS

He emphasized that Yinka didn’t take drugs nor is he a drug addict. He said he decided to include drug Addiction into the campaign in order to reach out to more victims and redeem them from the temptation of the devil. He said by doing this, the ministry would be reviving them from self-destruction as well as putting smiles on the faces of their parents and relatives.

The launching was a very brief one. The ministry was unveiled in the presence of God as men of God took an active part in the programme. Meanwhile, Bishop Tunde Akin-Akinsanya, chairman Christian Association of Nigerian, Ogun State and Pastor Joseph Akinlade of the Emmanuel World Wide Evangelical Ministry both applauded Evangelist Obey for his show of strength in the Lord which is exemplary. They said the launching of FADAM is a seed being sown to benefit the world as it would bring joy to the founder and God. They however pray that God should keep him and continue to be with him as he is a great asset to Christendom.

Notable among those that gave commendable remarks at the launching was an Owu High Chief, Isaac Doja Adewolu. He emphasized the essence of setting up FADAM and its impacts in society. He said Evangelist Obey-Fabiyi has done the unthinkable in bringing forth a ministry to attend to alcoholism and drug addiction.

In wrapping up the launching ceremony, the Rhythm of Grace Band performed by singing lovely Songs of Praise to keep guests entertained.
