The Garrison Commander of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, Brig.-Gen. Lasisi Adegboye has called for effective inter-agency co-operation among security agencies to check criminality in Enugu State.

Adegboye made the call on Friday while addressing officers and soldiers of the Division as well as personnel of other security agencies after the compulsory monthly walk exercise for all Army personnel in Enugu.

The compulsory over 10-kilometre monthly walk exercise had been scheduled to be held every first Friday of the month for all army personnel in the Division.

The Garrison Commander said: “I must thank personnel of our sister security agencies for participating in this exercise as your participation had promoted more interaction and intelligence sharing among army personnel and you people.

“We are looking forward to sustain this co-operation; even as we intend to build on it and do more functions together, which will allow us to fuse better and understand ourselves in the line of internal security duties.

“This co-operation will definitely go a long way to cement our existing cordial relations as well as help to reduce all forms of crime and criminality in the state and society.”

Adegboye noted that the exercise had increased the agility and mental alertness of officers and men of the Division, adding, “As you can see, the walk and warm down exercises had increased your level of fitness and readiness for combat action.”

Personnel of other security agencies that participated in the exercise included: Nigerian Airforce, police, prisons, Department of State Security as well as National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the Division.

The over 10-kilometer walk covered a substantial part of Enugu-Abakaliki Road, Ogui Road to old Artisan and Ebeano Tunnel axis, all within Enugu metropolis and lasted for about an hour.
