•How Gov. DAPO ABIODUN Celebrated With Them
Every year, one Regberegbe that usually stands out at the Ojude Oba Festival in Ijebu-Ode is Egbe Bobagunte (Okunrin) Akile Ijebu.
At the just concluded Ojude-Oba in Ijebu-Ode, the Egbe Bobagunte (Okunrin) Akile Ijebu looked regale. The Egbe is one of the prominent age-grade groups in Ijebuland.
Since its royal charter by Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland over 2 decades ago, Egbe Bobagunte has helped in the development of Ijebuland. It has helped improve the social and economic development of members.
It is the Egbe that Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR) the Governor of Ogun State belongs to, that is why some call them Egbe Governor.
Egbe Bobagunte is a well-managed Egbe whose leadership is accountable to its members. It is made up of those born in 1959, 1960 & 1961. And one unique thing about the Egbe is the fact that it takes good care of its members. It recently reconstituted Grunte Cooperative Society and injected fresh capital into it. It also provides Medical Aid Support for members. As part of the Egbe’s welfarist approach, the well-being of every member matters to the Egbe. Since 2019 the Egbe has instituted a Medical Aid Fund. Whenever a member is critically ill, the Egbe will visit him either at home or in the hospital and render direct support towards his treatment, diagnostic examinations and medication. It also has Insurance Premium.
The Egbe’s Life Insurance Policy is up to date and they take it seriously. The Egbe has UK Chapter and the Republic of Ireland Chapter. Both are part of the Bobagunte brand helping to showcase the Ijebu culture and tradition in the diaspora.
