EKO Forum (Ominitiwa Club) Holds 2019 End Of The Year/AGM

As part of events to end 2019, the AGM and end of year party of EKO forum (Ominitiwa Club), 2019 members visited.

Massey and General Hospital to donate bed sheets and payment for 4 victims hospital bill by (Ominitiwa Club) EKO Forum on 28th Dec, 2019.

At the Old People’s Home Yaba, they donated food items to the inmates.

The Club’s President is Mr Babatunde Alli – Balogun, while the AGM Chairman is Engr. Hakeem Adeniyi.

Dignitaries in attendance were as follows: (1) Former Commissioner representing Lagos division, Hon Fuad Alade Oki (2) Present Commissioner Rep Lagos division Mr Rasheed Giwa (3) NULGE President – Comrade Afolabi  Semako Ajose and Exco (4) Ikorodu Division President – Alh Afuwape (5) Hon Ladega Olorogun Rep The Executive Chairman, Lagos Island Local Govt. (6) Hon Moshood Eletu (7) Hon.Eshinlokun (8) Mr Demola Ajibona (9) Mr Lateef Oloto, Mrs Gbemisola Edidi (10) Mrs Iyabode Giwa (RTD) an Awardee (11) Nr Hakeem Thompson +(RTD)Awardee (12) Princess Toyin Onikoyi- Sanyaolu , Mc (13) Mr Hakeem Disu (14) Prince Akintoye Semiu.

And on Sunday 29th December 2019 the Local Government Senior Staff of Lagos Island division marked their Annual General Meeting which ended with a grand Get together.

The Ominitiwa club Eko Forum is a non political socio-cultural organization that was founded in July 1995 and it consists of senior staff of Local Government from grade 7. The forum is engendered to promote the welfare and good will of all Local Government senior staff that are indigent of Lagos Island Division which comprises of Lagos Island, Eti-Osa, Apapa, Surulere, Lagos Mainland, Ikorodu to mention but a few. 

The forum had their annual general meeting and get together at the Surulere Local Government Hall and there was an influx of senior level staff of local government from grade level 7 under the Lagos Island division. It was a blue and white affair and Senior Staff of Lagos Island division dazzled in different attires of white and blue.

Mrs Toyin Onikoyi Sanyaolu, a member of the forum anchored the event.  She had so much lovable aura around her as she introduced the guests. Engr. Tunde was welcomed as he led the opening prayer. Shortly after the opening prayers, the member of the forum and their guests stood to recite the National Anthem and the Lagos Island Division pledge.

Prince Babatunde Alli Balogun, President Ominitiwa Eko Forum for more than six years spoke on the success recorded for the year. He mentioned that the forum has been very impactful to communities under the division and spoke on corporate social responsibility that has been financed by the forum for the year. Over 400,000 were paid as hospital bills of four patients who could not afford their medical bills and were not allowed to go and meet their families during the festive period. He also mentioned that the forum visited the homes of the old, orphanages several times to give them a token of their love.  He also mentioned that some projects are already on going while some are in incubation. He gave kudos to every member and individuals that have contributed their time, energy, influence and money to the success of the projects. He prayed that God will enrich them greatly to do more in the New Year. The president of the Ominitiwa rounded his speech by appreciating God, forum members and executives who have worked tirelessly for the success of the community development services and corporate social responsibility. 

Shortly after the president’s speech, the members, executives and dignitaries came to the dance floor to dance the Gbedu Oba dance. The Gbedu Oba dance is a special traditional drum and sound that symbolizes the presence of a royalty or royalties at events. It is used to welcome royalties specially. The Ominitiwa Eko forum consist of different Princes and Princesses from different ruling houses and that was why they had to specially dance to the Gbedu Oba.

Hon. Fuad Oke{former Commissioner of service Commission}, Hon Rasheed Giwa (Commissioner Service Commissioner), Hon. Eshilokun, Mrs. Iyabode Hamdalat Akeem (Retiree), Mr. Lateef Olobodun Oloto, Mr. Akeem Thompson (retiree), Comrade Afolabi Semako Ajose (NULGE President), Alhaji Demola Ajibona, and Alhaji Akamo Federal Commissioner of Service, gave their good will messages. They admonished local government workers to stay committed in service and not mind several distractions that come along the way.

Hon. Fuad Oke spoke a lot on unity in the service commission. He encouraged members to shun unhealthy rivalry, malice, and every form of discord and concentrate more on lifting each other up. He mentioned that the service commission and forum will only achieve great exploits under an atmosphere of love and unity.

Alhaji Rasheed Giwa and Hon. Fuad Oke presented award and gift items to Mrs. Hamdalat Iyabode Akeem and Mr Akeem Thompson who just retired from years of active service to Lagos State Government. Hon Fuad, Hon Toyese Olusi were also given awards for being a strong pillar of support to Ominitiwza Eko Forum through the years. It was time to cut the get-together cake and dignitaries on the high table joined the cutting of cake and taking of pictures. Music and dance followed to wrap the event up.
