All fingers are crossed and eyes rolling waiting for who emerged as the councillorship flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress APC in “Ward A,” Ojodu LCDA after a primary election between Kogbodoku Olanrewaju and Apatira Opeyemi which was held on May 29 2017 but no concrete winner has been announced yet.
Members of the party in the ward were on ground from 7:30 am in waiting to perform their party endowed responsibility but materials were not available until late afternoon. However, after the winner was announced to all members, there has not been any confirmation from the states.
As it stands, other winners who participated at the primary have known who emerged as winners. Community members are already raising eyebrows, following the event that transpired at the polling unit, which occasioned the unforeseen declaration of inconclusive election.
The begging question of posterity remains whether the state will announce a candidate who left the peaceful polling unit on ground of projective crisis, or yield to the voice of majority.
If democracy is to be upheld in the grassroots where the masses are supposed to feel the impacts the most, then the final decision of the leadership of APC on this matter will go a long way in upholding the trust and confidence members have in it or make the people look elsewhere to salvage the oppression of the common and voiceless man.
If a political party would not uphold the mandate of its members, then why should the community and entire nation trust such a party? Justice delayed is justice denied.
