…In Music & Movie
When the news first broke several weeks back that Evangelist Tope Alabi was set to premiere her new movie, The Weight, many were surprised that this music-star had dabbled into the Movie world. Many kept wondering how she juggles her Music commitments with Movie production.
Shortly after the news broke, she sent out e-invites to the Special screening of the new movie which took place on Saturday, 8th April, 2023 at the Silverbird Cinemas, Victoria Island, Lagos. It was a world class event that was also classy. Trust, Tope Alabi, she was able to attract quality guests to the premiere. Those who were not physically present at the premiere, joined via Youtube to watch. Despite the fact that the news of successful premiere is yet to die down, work has begun on her next film project, all for the spread of the gospel.
How does she do it? How does she combine her movie career with her involvement in the movie industry? These and many more were the questions City People was eager to ask Tope Alabi. Many don’t know that she has tap roots in the Movie industry. Many don’t know she started her career in the movie industry over 22 years ago.
Just as she is making giant strides in the Movie industry, she is doing so well in music. Her new album, Igbowo Eda is set for on 12th April, 2023. So, as you read this, her album is out. City People got her to tell us about her impressions of how the special screening of The Weight went. How does she juggle her many roles? “I guess its the Grace of God,” she reveals. “Tope Alabi plays so many roles. “I am a Music Minister, I am an Actor, I am a Mother and a Wife. I love God. I love People. Glory be to God. The movie premiere was good. I love the turn out. The turn out was huge, from my friends. It is now on Youtube not at the Cinemas. It is now on Youtube on Tope Alabi Official. We thank God for everything. God gave me the story. And he made it happen. Glory be to God.”
Is it true that she has started work on her next film project?
What should her fans expect? She smiles. “I have not started on the next film project. By the Grace of God, next year. Be expecting me to dish out any message any message that the Holy Spirit tells me to do. I have a number of stories that I have written down, inspired by the Holy Spirit. By the grace of God watch out next year. I want to see how The WEIGHT will move first and then I want to see how encouraging. The WEIGHT moves, so I will know what to do next. Aside that, I will do what God tells me to do, or anything God tells me to do, because I know he will always lead me right”.
Many don’t know she started out her career in the movie industry over 22 years ago. What was the experience like?
“Yes. I was into acting. I was an actor for like about 22 to 23 years, I stopped doing sound tracks when I got busier than before. God called me from Theatre & Acting into Music. But he told me that he would want me to act ooo, but not then. So, he told me when it is time, I would know its time. And when it was time, I knew it was time and that was why I started movie making. Yes. I am an actor. And I do voice overs. I do sound tracks too. I do jingles. I am just into many things.”
We got her to tell us about her new music album, Igbowo Eda, set for release on 12th April. “Yeah, Igbowo Eda is here. It has been 5 years ago that I released an album. And Igbowo Eda is coming out now. It’s just talking about Jesus Christ, how good is he, how wonderful our creator is, our messiah is. Its talking about especially this time we are in, the Easter time, the birth of Christ, the death and the Resurrection. And that is it” What number is the album? “That is No 13. That is the 13th album if I am not mistkaen. Igbowo Eda should be the 13th album. Its about when people feel God has left your side, when you think all hope is lost. When things seem wrong to you, but its all right with Jesus. That is all about Igbowo Eda. I am just singing his praises, talking about him and what I want people to know about him and the people that have not given their life to Christ should just give their lives to him. And that is all about Igbowo Eda. So, Igbowo Eda is talking about Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.”
Many commend her role in Music & Movies. How does she get the inspiration to keep doing the great things she is doing? “Glory be to God. I thank God for everything that he has allowed me to dod, that he has made me to be in his vineyard. Glory be to his Holy name. Talking about inspiration, all I can say is that inspiration comes from God, except if you are not a follower of Christ, except if you don’t pray well, except if you don’t do your fellowship daily, except if you don’t pray to God, except if you don’t ask questions from God, from the Holy Spirit, that is when you don’t get inspiration, because while you are praying to God and asking questions sometimes you will hear God telling you, what you asking for, wait on that. Let me tell you this. Let me tell you that. From there, you will get inspiration. So you don’t go to your fellowship without taking your pen and paper because somethings will come while talking to God. And if you fail to write them down, you might lose it forever. So, I get my inspiration from God because I get them from God. And that is it. I thank God. I do not take it for granted. Always, always, in any of my songs, in any of my stories, in anything you see me do, just believe that its God that told me to do, except for my flaws, like maybe you were greeting me and I did not see you, so I didn’t greet you very well or I didn’t answer you or maybe I did not answer very well. That one, it is not God that said I should not answer you, it is not God that say I should not see you.”
