She is pretty and sexy. Star actress Biodun Okeowo popularly called Omoborty, is one of the most successful, hardworking and stylish actresses in the movie industry. She is also very comfortable and lives in opulance. She just built a magnificent edifice in Lagos. Having spent close to 2 decades in the movie industry, this pretty mother of two will gladly tell you, she didn’t make her money from the movie industry, but rather from her “Victoria Secret” skin business. Her role in herself produced movie titled “Omoborty” shot her to limelight, which also became the name many call her.
Omoborty is one actress that despite her success, achievement and looks has remain very humble, friendly and down to earth, and this explains she is so loved by people both in and outside the movie industry. In this interview with City People Magazine, she talked about how she has been able to combine her business and three different reputable companies, she represent, why many thinks her backside is not real and how she has been able to cope with advances from different men considering her gorgeous look and how glass shape. Below is the excerpt.
What has it been like for you in the last 3 months of Covid-19?
Before the Covid-19 lockdown, I had some photoshoot I was unable to complete for the brands that I am an ambassador to, so after the shoot all I have been doing is eating and sleeping.
How did you react to the lockdown when you heard about it?
I was not happy, but at the same time, I was like, it’s something that won’t last for long, maybe just for a week, and at the same time, I am not really the going out type so it wasn’t really difficult for me, so I just concluded I will use that period to rest and relax, but when it got extended it, that wasn’t something I will really enjoy, so it became boring.
How do you cope as an actress, producer brand ambassador and influencer?
Hmmm, it’s not been easy but I believe with God, all things are possible, as per location, I have not been going to location for a while now not because they don’t call me, but because I have so much on my hand to take care of, like my business, though one of my plans for this year was to start going to location, but the pandemic obstructed that, then, I just wanted to face my business squarely. But I thank God, the business is standing firm now. I can now go back to my movies. Honestly, the question should have been “how do I jungle my business with the brands I am working for. Fine what we do mostly is photo shoot, then post, which takes lots of time and energy but the truth is that, if you do what you have strong passion for, it won’t look like you are even working at the first place, so it’s all interwoven, so I enjoy doing it.
Lately, you display lots of shoes on your Instagram page, do you have a shoe shop?
I love beautiful, lovely and classy shoes and as God will have it, I am also a brand ambassador for bags warehouse and they sell beautiful shoes and bags, so everything works perfectly for me.
How do you cope with admirers considering your shape and looks?
That has always been like that from inception and I am used to it. To some I say thank you when they compliment me, while to some others that are rude, I just ignore their nasty remarks, I have some that have become my friends and we sometimes talk. It is something I am used to because I have always been curvy all my life, so I am used to commenting and all that.
What is the secret of your glowing skin?
Haaa my head is swollen laughs!!! Ever since I started the skincare business I don’t use any other thing except my products. Victoria’s secret and out of my products I use to organo set, though it is suppose to give an extreme whitening skin but because I don’t want to be extremely white instead of using it daily, I apply it three times weekly, I use the entire set and it is really good on me, I have gotten lots of reviews from clients.
What sort of services do you render to your services or do you just sell creams to them?
That is where all my years in the industry come to play, I take good look at their skin before deciding on what I can do for them. But right now, the company has gained like 70 per cent trust from people, so they can easily just place orders from anywhere, whether they are home or abroad.
People that come for consultation are new clients.
If someone desire to have your kind of skin, what is she expected to do?
I would tell the person to stop whatever she is using that contains mercury or any harsh chemicals, I have good skin therapist that will attend to them, then the person would go for spa session, after that we can now recommend the best cream, the client can use that will be suitable for her skin type, and we have products for all skin types that is all.
What explains the fact, that everybody wants to be white?
I think, maybe we should blame the men there are these things about fair skin ladies men are always attracted to, so must ladies believe, to get noticed, you need to be fair in complexion. All the same time my daughters have chocolate complexion and I always beg her not to touch her skin tone. She is beautiful, the way, she is. If I am opportune to choose my skin colour later again in life I will gladly go for the chocolate skin. It is pretty expensive to maintain the fair skin and once there is any blemishes on your skin, especially on the face, people notice it easily unlike the dark skin colour.
Also maybe people don’t know the consequences of bleaching, if you are naturally fair and you want to be a little bit lighter it’s fine but I am against dark people who desired to become white. I am an advocate of glowing skin, I will choose a glowing and healthy skin above a while skin, women should be concern about their skin looking healthy and glowing before thinking of whitening up there are so many disadvantages of whitening skin, God forbid, if an accident occurs, it will be difficult to work on such skin, take for example two years ago, I had a domestic accident that gave me a deep cut on my forehead and I was rushed to the hospital, my doctor told me clearly that if I had bleached my skin, they wouldn’t have been able to work on the skin, if you take a good look at me now, you might not even see the cut except you come very closer. Once you are in the skincare business today and you don’t do cream that makes people white in 7 days, they will conclude, you don’t know how to do the business.
How did you get the nickname “Omoborty”?
It was the movie I produced in 2012, I acted a spot brat in the movie, and you know, once you play a lead role in movies, and the movie is popular, people automatically start calling you the name of the character you played or the title of the movie, though some people think it is because of my backside they call me “Omoborty”, but it is not.
How many movies have you produced till date?
I think I have produced like 8 movies.
Someone just asked if your bum is natural?
Yes, it is very natural, no implant or surgery.
How do you cope with fans who always show you attention?
It’s what I signed up for, I need to always be friendly, even when I am not in a good mood, I just have to smile, when I see my fans, that’s why most times, if I am not in a good mood, I do not go out because my fans won’t understand.
How do you cope with advances from men that want to date you?
I am used to it as I said earlier, some eventually become my friend, I can’t date everybody, moreover, I am in a relationship a very serious one at that. I am always polite in turning them down.
Tell us about the relationship?
Laughs!!! No, I don’t want to talk about it I am in a serious relationship and not available.
How profitable has it been for you as a producer?
Back then, some were profitable, while others were not, like the movie titled “Omoborty” the marketer is still owing me 900k till date but the one I did after Omoborty was really okay. In the industry now things have changed due to piracy, so what we do now is for the passion not the money.
For me, I didn’t make money from the movie industry, but I made name for myself, the name gave me opportunities and open doors. Well maybe in my next movie, which is cinema movie, I will make money o, but I have never made money from the industry, I won’t lie about that, I only get name from it doors opened, favour and preferential treatment and most of my customers are my movie fans.
How did you cope with the noise of you 2 in 1 opening?
Ordinarily, I would not have posted pictures, if not, that my business was in the same building. I finished that building long before I posted it because I know people will say oh where did she get the money from. I didn’t get the money from making movies, I have been in the skincare business for 5 years. I made my money from my business, the skincare business is now a hot cake.
