Ex-International Philip Boamah for burial February 16

The family of late former player and coach of the Shooting Stars Sports (3SC) Club of Ibadan, Philip Boamah has picked Thursday 15 and Friday 16 February 2024 burial dates.

Boamah, who was also a former player of the Green Eagles, passed away in Ibadan on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the age of 74.

According to the invitation obtained by TrendscopeNews, there will be Lying in State on Thursday 15 at his residence, No. 2. Inukan Street, Gbekuba, BCJ B/Stop, Apata, Ibadan by 1:00 pm. A Service of Songs comes up later the same day by 5:00 pm at Grace Xtra Event Hall, Dojutelegan, Gbekuba, Apata, Ibadan.

Another Service of Songs will be held simultaneously by 5:30 pm at RCCG Mount Zion Chapel, 360 Perreault Street, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.

On Friday 16, there will be a Funeral Service at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oke-Ado, Ibadan by 9:00 am. Interment follows at Rest Park Gardens.

Reception and entertainment of guests hold at Williamson Hall & Ground, Off Total Filling Station Junction, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan.

The colour codes for the burial party are Gold, Silver or Blue.

Late Philip Kwaku Kolawole Boamah was a football icon who served Nigeria diligently despite being a Ghanaian.

Little wonder that the great Mathematical Segun Odegbami, in a special tribute to his friend, described Boamah’s death as ‘Exit of an unusual Eagle’.
