This pretty and very industrious filmmaker woman of many parts, born in the 70’s. Biola Alabi is a Nigerian media expert, passionate about developing the African Creative and Media Scene.

She bagged a degree in Public and Community Health from University of Cincinnati in the United  States of America. After graduation, she remained in the U.S and became part of the executive team at the influential children’s television brand “Sesame Street”, also a member of the marketing team that launched the well respected Korean motor vehicle corporation. Daewoo in the U.S.A.

She moved back to Nigeria in 2008 and has been actually involved in the media scene in Nigeria. She held an independent non executive director role at Unilever Nigeria Plc.

She also participated in the Yale world fellows flagship programme at Yale University, while she was there; she founded the “Grooming for Greatness’. A leadership development and mentorship programme for a new generation of African leaders. She also held the high profile position of M.D for Mnet Africa, part of the globally renowned Naspers group. In running of Mnet Africa, she commented herself as an icon and helped tell the African story differently to the world.

And also help to increase Mnet portfolio on the African continent. During her time, she overseas  4 editions of the massively popular reality super series. Big Brother Africa with audiences turning big brother revolution. All stars, Amplified and star game into household names. She created Africa viewers choice awards, and also created  most of the African movies channels from African magic Yoruba, Hausa, Swahili, African Magic entertainment and basically a bouquet of African magic channels from 1 to 8.

She also changed the face of Nollywood and help receive Nollywood around Africa and even abroad.  This hardworking lady is currently working with her own company, she is the founder and managing partner of Biola Alabi media. A dynamic consultancy with expertise in strategic consulting for pay entertainment, digital television interactive television and emerging entertainment distribution platforms.

She has maintained a very cordial relationship with notable Nollywood stars in Nigeria and Africa as a whole following the success of the popular Nigeria travel food documentary series “Bukas and Joint” she produced. Which is on AIT,  African magic, Africa channels in the U.S.

It has been able to celebrate Nigeria and African food authentically. She has also invested in a feature film which was released August last year and happens to be one of the best movies of the year. The twist to the simple storyline of the movie. “Banana Island Ghost” popularly known as  “Bla” is the position of the real and fantasy lives of 2 persons, leading to the conflict of the movie. It features stars like Tomiwa Edun, Uche Jombo, Saheed Balogun, Ali Nuhu, Chigul, Bimbo Manuel, Damilola Adegbite, Lala Akindoju, Dorcas Fabson and lots of others. After the huge success of big which grossed over 35million in its opening week in Nigeria Box office last year, Biola Alabi Media (BAM) has also set the centre stage again, as it premieres yet another block buster movie title “Lara and the Beat”

“Lara and the Beat” Stars Sheyi Shay, and Vector as lead actors.

The movie is about the coming of age of the young and beautify Giwa sisters caught in the centre of a financial scandal with their late parents “Media Empire” the sisters are forced out of their privileged bubble and must learn to build their own future. Through music and enterprise to salvage their family’s part. It also feature stars like Chioma Akpota, Chinedu Ikediaze, DJ exclusive, Uche Jombo, Lala Akindoju, Saidi Balogun and others.

According to Biola: “Lara and the Beat” is a reinforcement of our promises and goal to continue to tell authentic African stories to local and global audience.

Biola Alabi, no doubt has remained the hottest movie producer in the entertainment industry and she is keep no stone unturned to keep that position in a long time to come, as she has also been rated one of the 20 youngest power women in Africa by Forbes, with lots of other awards to her credit.
