Saturday 19th August, 2023 was a remarkable day and day of great celebration for members of the Fertility Awareness Advocacy Initiative, (FAAI) marked the 10th anniversary in creating fertility awareness and advocacy in Nigeria.
FAAI is a support group that provides fertility challenged Nigerians with support, information, and education. It is a platform for women and men experiencing infertility to connect with one another, to discuss their situations and to receive support from others who have had similar experiences or who are struggling with similar issues.
The group had a wonderful anniversary celebration and it was done in grand style. This was held as an anniversary picnic where members converged at the Good Beach in Oniru, Lagos to celebrate the landmark occasion.
Addressing member at the auspicious occasion, The President of the FAAI, Mr. Omos Evborokhai congratulated members of the 10th anniversary of the support group. He went down the memory lane to narrate the essence of the group, how the idea was conceived, how the group was formed and registered as well as what they have done to sustain it over its 10 years of existence.
He said prior the formation of FAAI, couples who sought IVF intervention to solve their fertility issues were always shy to give testimonies about it as they were afraid of being stigmatized by people around them. But with the emergence of the support group, the level of awareness of IVF, IVF babies and IVF treatments has been on the increase.
He added by saying that their advocacy has gone far and wide and more people are now aware of the IVF treatment and other options available. And that all it takes is a little bit of assistance and you achieve your aims through IVF treatments.
He however commended the Dr. Abayomi Ajayi, MD/CEO of Nordica Fertility Centre for his unwavering support throughout the formative years of FAAI as they look forward to achieving more together in years to come.
