by Reporter

Nigerian Medical Lawyer threatens to sue the Nigerian Football Federation, Minister of Sports, Nigerian Immigration Service and the Minister of Health.

The resurgence of the dreaded Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo has brought back memories of the trauma faced by Nigerians when the Liberian Diplomat Mr. Patrick Sawyer brought the disease in to the country. His entrance into Nigeria culminated in the deaths of several people particularly patriotic Nigerian health workers.

The Nigerian Football Federation has scheduled a friendly match between Nigerian Super Eagles and the National team of DRC in preparation for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. This is regardless of the fact that DR. Congo is currently ravaged with Ebola.

It is however a known fact that Nigerian health workers under the auspices of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) are currently on a nationwide strike.

Nigerian Medical Lawyer ‘La-olu Osanyin is of the opinion that by virtue of the ongoing nationwide strike by JOHESU, the current abysmally under-funded status of the Nigerian health system coupled with the lack of preparedness of Nigeria to handle an Ebola epidemic, Osanyin who is the first and only African on the Board of Governors of the World Association for Medical Law has threatened to seek a court injunction restraining the Nigerian Football Federation, Minister of Sports and Nigerian Immigration Service from allowing the National Team of DR Congo from entering Nigeria.

In his words Laolu Osanyin says this is clearly a public health issue and we should not jeopardize the collective health of 180 million Nigerians for an inconsequential football match
