Many would have thought the wedding of the President’s son would attract all the trappings of the society and that was what really played out. The wedding which was although classy in all ramifications saw the entourage of many bigwigs in the political class who stormed Kano, home of the Bayeros. Recall that the news of Yusuf’s wedding to Zahra Bayero emerged on social media a few months back and since then plans had been ongoing as the Bayeros were set to receive their inlaws, the Buhari’s at their home in Bichi, Kano State. The ceremony started with Kamu, followed by pre-wedding dinner, then wedding Fathia and presidential dinner.
HERE COMES THE COUPLE, YUSUF AND ZAHRA
The stars of the day were Yusuf and Zahra. They both had a swell time as many of their families and friends came together to celebrate with them.
Yusuf was born on April 23 in the 1990s. He is a graduate of the University of Surrey, Guildford, United Kingdom, and completed his National Youth Service Corps Programme (NYSC) in 2019. The lovebirds were said to have met each other in the United Kingdom where the president’s son finished his undergraduate studies. Zahra is a graduate of architecture from Brighton University in the UK. Yusuf Buhari currently holds the title, The Taliban Daura which is a top traditional position in the Daura Emirate of Katsina State.

Just about 48 hours from his son’s wedding, he was seen with APC national leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu where he went to London to wish him the quickest recovery and then touch down Adamawa State to commiserate with the Adamawa governor before proceeding to Kano for his son’s wedding.
VP OSINBAJO STOOD SOLIDLY BEHIND THE PRESIDENT
One significant thing seen at the wedding was how the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo stood solidly behind the president at his son’s wedding. In fact, the VP lived up to expectations as he was always at a close shot with the president. They flew in the same Air Force one to Kano and was also together in the private jet that flew them to the Emir of Bichi’s palace. They remained inseparable all through the wedding ceremony.
HOW KANO CAME TO LIVE PRESIDENTIALLY
Kano, the venue for the much anticipated high-octane event, witnessed an influx of thousands of guests. Former and incumbent governors, ministers, lawmakers, judges, businessmen, diplomats, relatives, friends, groups, among other well-wishers from within and outside Nigeria attended the wedding. It was very grand in all ramifications. Kano was under heavy security ahead of President Buhari’s trip. The ceremony took place in the afternoon after Friday prayers. The wedding Fathia took place inside the Emir of Bichi’s palace.

What do you expect when almost all the guests at the wedding ceremony are all important VIPs, and this was why Kano Airport was littered with over 30 private jets which flew in all the VVIPs. It was like there was a jet parade at the airport.

HOW 145 MEN PLANNED THE WEDDING
It will interest you to know that despite there is an event planner which planned the wedding, there was also a mega planner in terms of those who made everything happen by being in charge of important personalities and all logistics. It was gathered The Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero, father of the bride had given his approval, for the organisation and inauguration of a 145-man committee to ensure that the wedding ceremony does not meet any obstacle or complication along the way. The information was made known by Garba Shehu, Buhari’s senior special assistant on media and publicity, where he noted that the presidency constituted the delegation to be led by Ibrahim Gambari, his chief of staff. Shehu disclosed that the delegation included Bashir Magashi, Minister of Defence; Sabo Nanono, Minister of Agriculture; Hadi Sirika, Minister for Aviation; and Suleiman Hussein Adamu, Minister for Water Resources. The presidential aide also said members of the delegation would stay back after the wedding to represent the president at the coronation of the Emir at Bichi the next day.
WHAT’S BETWEEN PRESIDENT BUHARI AND THE BRIDE’S FATHER?
The bride’s father, Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero is one of the big shots in the north. He is a close confidant of the president. We gathered he shares a close friendship with the Emir’s uncle. He is from the Northern Emirate and an Emir to say. He is the Emir of Bichi, a town in Kano State. Bayero had experience working with Continental Merchant Bank Nigeria, he later moved to Coastal Corporation in Houston, Texas and then Hamlet Investment Ltd London. He is the chairman of Enclo Limited and 9 Mobile Nigeria. On 9 March 2019, Bayero ascended the throne following his brother Aminu Ado Bayero’s appointment as the 15th Emir of Kano.
