Pleasant Event Centre, the prestigious event centre located on Ajao Road, Off Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos was agog last Sunday 19th September 2021. It was the venue of An Evening with our Matriarchs, a programme put together by City People Magazine, as part of the activities marking its 25th Anniversary.
According to the organisers, the event was an opportunity for City People to say a BIG thank you to all the society women who have supported City People, all the way, since November 1996.
The event which kicked off at 4pm that Sunday, had about 300 stunning and glamorously dressed celebrity ladies in attendance, as they arrived, one after the other, in exotic cars. It was a mixture of older celebrity women and younger ones. A lot of Matriarchs were also in attendance.
The Invitation Card stipulated a Dress Code of GLAMOROUS. And so all the women came looking Glamourous & Gorgeous. Music was by popular singer, Queen Madiva, who held the guests spellbound, with her songs. Right now, this slim and sexy lady is one of the hottest singers on the music scene in Lagos. She is talented. She is gifted. And she succeeded in making all the guests to be on their feet all through the evening, as they danced and danced.
One of the biggest guests at the event was HRM Oba Engr. Nurudeen Oluwadare Osoja, the Onikogbo of Ikogbo Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government of Ogun State. He is also the the Chairman/CEO, Deensat Technical Engineering Company Ltd, Civil Building and Infrastructure Firm in Lagos. Oba Osoja is young, stylish and has a dynamic leadership quality that all leaders should emulate. He has touched many lives and remains a role model to his community and Nigeria at large. He was stylishly dressed and had the honour of presenting awards to many winners at the event.
Members of 3 top female social clubs in Lagos were in attendance. Alhaja Ajoke, the beautiful President & Members of Harmony Sisters Club attended the party. So also members of another club called Amicable Friends, led by their beautiful President, Adekunbi Adebiyi Oyedeji. Members of Elites Glam Ladies Club also came in full force, led by their President, Titilope Omowunmi Onafeko (Omo Olope).
The list of the top society women who came was an impressive one. The woman everyone calls Madam Tourism, Mrs. Omotayo Omotosho (MFR) came with her mum, who is a Bigger matriarch. She was once the DG of Nigeria Tourism. She is a veteran Broadcaster. Her mum is of the oldest Matriarchs. She is the 90 year old mother of Mrs. Omotayo Omotosho. She is Great Granma Matriarch @ almost 90 years. The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf looked stunning. She was there with her husband, Alhaji Olubodun Yussuf, CEO Sign@Site Outdoor. Chief (Mrs.) Folake Ijelu Okeowo, the Alaye of Ijora Kingdom and Yeye Bobaseye of Ilara Kingdom, came. She is popularly called Double Chief. She is the CEO of Abula Spot & Flakky Swarovski. She came with her friend, Alhaja Yinka Lawal. The ever gorgeous Chief Mrs. Atinuke Abioro also came, so also Mrs. Olajumoke Shobayo, the CEO Robop Fabrics. The CEO/MD West Syde Group Otunba & Yeyeluwa Olabode Adeitan were there. Kabiyesi HRM Oba Engr. Nurudeen Oluwadare Osoja, the Onikogbo of Ikogboland chaired the event. Rev. Mother Oshoba came.
Chief Mrs. Joko Oni (Madam Goldrush) also came, so also Wellness Coach & Spa Business owner, Mrs. Jumoke Odulaja. She just came back from a well deserved holiday in the U.S Popular fashion designer, Chief Mrs. Ngozi Nkoeloenyi was there looking ageless. So also Mrs. Patricia Agbakwu, a top fashion designer who is ageing gracefully.
Many of them were honoured with City People @ 25 Award Plaques.
Royal Princess Faderera looked stunning. Princess Elizabeth Obanla was in attendance, so also forever elegant. Funmi Onabamiro. Radek boss, Radeke Kupoluyi attended the event she looked stunning. Top designer, Yewande Hakeem-Habeeb, was there, so also Mrs. Irene Ize-Iyami. Top Caterer, Yemisi Moiett looked dazzling. Movie Star, Odunola Agoro attended. Dr. Prisca Ndu looked sweet in her outfit. Beauty expert, Ojuologe was there also.
Soffiya, the daughter of Fuji star Shefiu Alao also entertained guests. The CEO of Eddys beauty company was there. Omobola Oguntayo was there. So also Debby Adekanye. Funmi Ezekiel made it also. Mrs. Adebimpe Amodu looked stunning. She came with her friend. Awo’s grand daughter Funke Awolowo, was there.
Korede Okungbowa was also there. Naomi Osibodu attended with her friend. Top Civil Servant, Dr. Kasunmi came. Aso Oke Queen, Chief Mrs. Iyabo Ninalowo, the CEO of Culture Speaks dazzled everyone at the event in her Aso Oke outfit, with shoe and bag to match. Call her the best dressed woman at the event and you won’t be entirely wrong.
