Globacom, Nigeria’s top digital solutions provider, has expressed gratitude to its customers and Nigerians overall for their support over the past two decades.

The network began in 2003 by offering affordable, state-of-the-art telecommunication services. Now, on its 20th anniversary, the network celebrates its success.

On Monday, the company released a press statement in Lagos expressing gratitude to the government, customers, business partners, and stakeholders for their support over the past 20 years. The statement highlighted the company’s role in transforming the telecommunications industry and improving the lives of millions of Nigerians.

Globacom has been committed to delivering high-quality digital and communication services to its customers since 2003. To maintain this dedication, they continuously implement advanced technologies. The company takes pride in creating a robust ICT network infrastructure that consistently adds value for their esteemed clients.

Glo has played a significant role in transforming the telecommunications industry in Nigeria. It was able to reduce the cost of purchasing SIM cards in the country from approximately N25,000 to just around N200. Additionally, the network surprised many by introducing a Per Second Billing platform, which others believed would not be possible for another five years.

Glo has introduced several innovations in Nigeria, including Blackberry, Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), Magic Plus, Glo Direct, Glo Fonepals, Africhat, Glo Mobile Internet, GloFleetmanager, M-Banking, and Glo Mobile Office. They were the first to launch 2.5G, 3G, and 4G LTE networks. Additionally, Glo built an international submarine cable, Glo 1, to directly connect West Africa to the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. The cable also connects 12 nations in the West African sub-region, some of which are landlocked.

Glo1 is the preferred cable system in Nigeria, connecting thousands of kilometers of national fiber and credited with lowering the cost of internet services.

Globacom currently has over 61 million subscribers on its network. The number is still growing due to its massive investments in technology, array of value added services, strong and unique marketing initiatives.
