by Promise Babatunde

Nollywood icon Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) unveiled his latest cinematic project, Radio Voice, to a gathering of film lovers, industry heavyweights, and cultural tastemakers at the Alliance Française, Mike Adenuga Centre, in Ikoyi, Lagos.. The exclusive event, supported by telecommunications giant Globacom, drew an impressive turnout of entertainment industry leaders, celebrities, and movie enthusiasts.

Radio Voice takes viewers into the often-unseen world of radio broadcasters, their passion, their pain, and the silent battles they fight, from cyberbullying to professional pressure. Speaking on the film’s inspiration, RMD said, “It’s not a personal story, but it reflects the reality of many people in the media space. At its core, it’s about resilience—the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.”

The film features a star-studded cast that includes Nse Ikpe-Etim, Nancy Isime, Timini Egbuson, Damilola Adegbite, and Deyemi Okanlawon. Directed by Isioma Osaje and produced by Blessing Obasi-Nze, Yolanda Okereke, and Karamat Eko, the film has been described as a “labour of love” by RMD.

“I am deeply grateful to my exceptional team of producers, actors and collaborators,” he said. The project wouldn’t have come this far without their commitment, focus, and belief in the story they wanted to tell.

In attendance at the premiere were top Nollywood stars and influencers, including Ego Boyo, Toyin Abraham, Iyabo Ojo, Ini Edo, and Elozonam, all adding glitz and glamour to the night as they walked the red carpet in standout fashion.

The movie is also endorsed by the Office of the Vice President, aligning with the Federal Government’s renewed focus on the creative economy and digital transformation.

Globacom’s support for the premiere reinforces its legacy as Nigeria’s biggest corporate backer of entertainment. Since its debut in 2003, the company has consistently invested in the country’s creative space, sponsoring shows like X Factor, Battle of the Year, Glo Naija Sings, Dance with Peter and signing many top entertainers as brand ambassadors.

With Radio Voice, RMD reinforces his legacy not only as a celebrated actor but also as a visionary filmmaker, using storytelling to spotlight real issues and inspire hope within society.
