Leading Telecommunications Operator, Globacom reputed to be the strongest supporter of the Nigerian entertainment industry has unveiled three world-class Nigerian musicians as ambassadors; Asake, Kizz Daniel and Chike were unveiled at the Mike Adenuga Towers headquarters of the company in Victoria Island, yesterday evening.
Globacom’s Director of Creativity, Mr Chuka Obi who spoke on behalf of the company while explaining the rationale behind the selection of the trio as brand ambassadors at this point in time, disclosed that they embody the spirit of resilience and “can do” attitude which Globacom is known for. He noted that Asake, Kizz Daniel and Chike waded their way through the industry and became international superstars despite all the odds and stumbling blocks on their way.
According, to him Kizz Daniel faced challenges, early on in his career that would have derailed most entertainers but masterfully navigated it and continues to shine so brightly. Asake on his part has been a story of dreaming about big things and achievements, while Chike has has shown how the improbable becomes a possibility by creating a market for his unique kind of music.
They have all continued to unleash the unlimited potentials synonymous with Globacom. He said the event “is meant to project the best of Nigerians as models for younger people who are tirelessly aspiring to succeed. This is more important in an era where positive heroes and mentors are scarce and hard to come by. The intention is not just to promote the growth of music, Nollywood and sports where we have been very prominent, but also to encourage our teeming youths to aspire towards realizing their dreams by looking up to these ambassadors as mentors”.
“is our way of inspiring a whole generation of young people with vision who can do better and achieve more without losing hope along the way, even when confronted with challenges”, he pointed out.
After signing the the dotted lines of the contract in the presence of a cross section of the media, the three super stars who could not hide their excitement each took the microphone to speak about the honour the endorsement contract bestows upon them. A recurring theme in the brief statements was that they were very much honoured to be selected by the company as brand ambassadors and that it means much to them and their families, not just because of the monetary aspect but because of the respect of associating with such a world class brand.
Since it launched its network. 20 years ago, Globacom has consistently supported the Nigerian entertainers through various activities, including endorsements, sponsorships, concerts and even comedy shows.
Globacom has also aslo being at the forefront on bringing back musical concerts to Nigerian universities with events like Glo Campus Storm. Indeed, these three new Glo Ambassadors are products of Nigerian universities.
