•Talks About Her Music Career
Adenike Fakunle Adekoya, also known as Omo-Imole, is a gospel juju artiste who has carved a niche for herself in the gospel music industry. She does all genres of music, but basically gospel juju. She has worked with reputable artistes and marketers such as Afeezco Films, Lanre Teriba Atorise, Adegbodu Twins, Bunmi Akinlami, (Omije Oju mi), Saint Janet. She shares her experience of 17 years in the music industry in an interview with City People’s Society Reporter TITILOPE OGUNLEYE.
She also explains her reason for the choice of juju gospel and the 3-N-1 event, plus the challenges she faces and her experience in the music industry. Excerpts.
What is the 3-N-1 event all about?
It is an album launch, presentation of awards and the marking of my birthday. This is my fourth album and I am using the medium to appreciate God and my fans. The title of the album is IRE.
You do gospel juju music, can you share reasons for your choice of music, why not Afro, Reggae or RnB?
I do all genres of music, but basically Juju because I go to birthday celebrations, weddings and all that, so I must add juju to it and I chose juju because I feel you can blend gospel and juju together and produce something nice. And I feel gospel and juju artistes are one and they are almost on the same lane.
Can you tell us a little about the album IRE?
Ire means goodness, I’m launching the album to talk about the goodness of God to man and also the goodness of God to me.
This is your fourth album, can you list your previous albums?
Yes, I did Olorun mi in 2002, Ileri Ayo in 2006, Ileri Ayo was marketed by Afeezco films in 2006 and was launched in 2007, Mo Mope Wa and this one IRE.
What should fans expect in the album IRE?
The best always, my fans should expect the best and I won’t give them less value.
What has been the response from fans and your experience in the music industry?
The acceptability has been overwhelming, beautiful so far. The industry is a big one with a lot of artistes but so far so good, I give God the Glory for how people are responding very beautifully and I appreciate my fans for that.
Any challenge so far, and how do you handle it?
Yes, a lot, especially from the marketers, so most of the time I just let them go and move on for my career sake.
What gives you joy in what you do?
I feel fulfilled at the response of people when people enjoy what I do, I appreciate the fact that I have a talent and people appreciate it and it always makes me want to do more… At that time that I am handling the microphone, I feel on top of the world like a star because the glory of the Lord is on what I do.
Being a married woman and an artist, how have you been able to juggle both?
It has not been very easy because when I got married in 2015, it was like the whole career had stopped. But it is now different from what it used to be and we thank God.
Did you ever see yourself as a musician while growing up?
No, it all started when I joined a choir and my dad started his church and I was the only one who could sing a little among my siblings and I was made the choir coordinator. Nobody trained me, I just wanted to meet up with the standard of a choir coordinator and my parents have been very supportive. Infact, my dad bought the entire major instruments for me and I cannot appreciate them enough.
Is it true that most gospel artistes are not educated?
No. I graduated from, Ekiti State University and I know so many Gospel artistes who are literate.
Back to the 3-N-1 event , the presentation of award coming from you?
No, it is coming from my promoter abroad to appreciate individuals who have supported my music carees for about 17 years.

I really want to appreciate my fans all over the world without God and them I would not be where I am, I love them plenty and God bless them all.
