The Story Of Late JOSEPH AKINYELE OBAYOMI
Pa. Joseph Akinyele Obayomi was born in September 1931 in Araromi village, Oke-Adiyan near Agbado Railway Station. He later went with his junior brother (late Babatunde Obayomi) to stay with their Aunt late Mrs. Adenike Adebayo at Ogungbade village, where he had his elementary education at St. Peter African Pry school, Agoro.
His parents names were late Pa. Emmanuel Olude Obayomi and Mrs Hannah Subulade Obayomi. His father hailed from Ijemo Agbadu while his mother hailed from Ago Osu both in Ogun State. His parents were farmers. His father had three wives and were blessed with children (both males & females). He lived with his parents for a while as a little boy, after which he proceeded to stay with his aunt. Few years later his mother convinced his father to allow him go to be with his maternal grandmother to take care of her because of her old age.
Pa. Joseph’s father wanted his son to learn Tailoring, but his elder brother, late Pa. Olatoye Obayomi wanted him to further his studies. Then, he was taken to Lagos by his elder brother to leave with his maternal grandmother. He thereafter took him to a mechanic shop to learn mechanical engineering without the knowledge of his father.
Few years after, his father suspected he was not into tailoring as he proposed. Then he brought him back to their village Agbado Abule Araromi, where he finally learnt tailoring after much pressure. He learnt tailoring and got his freedom on the 11th April 1959. He became successful in the field. His shop was located in Damingoro Street, Mushin Lagos State, where became very popular. He had 46 apprentices that graduated under him, to his credit.
Marriage: Late Pa. Joseph Akinyele Obayomi met his wife (late Mrs. Agnes Obayomi) through his elder brother (Late Mr Olatoye). They were blessed with wonderful children, whom they brought up in the way of The Lord (Catholic Faith).
Joseph detested lies and dishonesty.
He loved people who are committed to God, honest and do not discriminate amongst tribes and religion.
Pa. Joseph slept in the Lord in the early hours of 16th December 2019. He held unto his faith till the end. Because of his dedication to God, he received The body and Blood of Christ until his dying day; to the glory of God.
Papa’s happiest day was the day he got converted as a (Catholic) Christian.
His unhappy moments were during the demise of his wife (Late Mrs. Agnes Obayomi). Pa. Joseph loved eating swallow, but his favourite was pounded yam. Pa. Joseph Akinyele Obayomi adviced both young and old to move closer to God.
Good night to a man of faith to the core!
