•Full Details Of His Speech At 2019 Ojude Oba
At the tail end of the 2019 Ojude Oba Ijebu, the Awujale of Ijebu, Oba Sikiru Adetona made a speech on how the Ijebus should be careful in their choice of his successor when he is no more. This came as a shocker to many people. In his speech, he opened up on how God has used people to spare his life till date and also how he has been able to be alive because of the prayers and love from his people.
He also took time to appreciate the new Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his support and prayers over the years. In his speech, he said “I thank everyone today, and I thank you all for standing by me. I salute all dignitaries present here today and our sponsors. I want everyone to know that. I salute and greet everyone here today. My prayer is that Ijebu will continue to grow”.
“The next thing is that I want to thank almighty Allah, for granting me the special privilege to be with you today, because I never dreamt of being here today, as a result of the many things that have happened to me. That I am able to be with you today, it is the grace of Allah and your prayers. I thank you all for the prayers. Alfa, Pastors, Bishops, Kings, Chiefs were all praying for me, I should thank you because your prayers and supports are what makes me be in your midst today.
Another person God has used is our new governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun. Now, before I continue, our governor today is not a stranger to me at all. If I am traveling he will send his driver and people to me. They won’t leave the airport until I have boarded, no matter where am going, and from time to time he is always praying and taking care of me. God will take care of you too, and I say a very big thank you. Look at how things are today. When I had a broken leg and I was taken to the United Kingdom for surgery, he was also there for me. Your excellency thank you”.
“What is left now is that you have to take care of Ijebu. In the last 8 years, Ijebu had nothing from the previous government. No roads, nothing. The one they did for us, it rained recently and everything got ruined. In the Obalende area, recently there was a case, it rained and cars sank, Ondo road same thing. We have ecological problems, that the state alone can not handle unless the federal government gives us a hand”.
“When Obasanjo was President, he sent his Minister to see things and they left without doing anything, I believe God knows how he does his things, that means God didn’t grant him the power to do it. It is whom God gives the power to do it that will, therefore I want to beg Governor Abiodun to help us see to all of these. Our roads from Ijebu ode is an eyesore. They have done roads from Epe, but it will take us about 3 hours. The road, Osoba had done it for us before, but the government we had didn’t like continuity, because they are not the ones who constructed a road, they won’t repair it. They will want to start their own projects, but we want our new governor to give these roads priority and attention. Let it be one of the projects you will do for us”.
“Our governor is Awujale’s son, I thank the new Akarigbo, he has extended his hand of friendship which some people didn’t want him to do before, my prayer is that God will not separate us. I want to thank you so much and also assure you of my full support. To the Age grade group and the whole of Ijebu land, I thank you all. The governor wants to come down to say a big thank you to you for supporting him during the election that took him to the office a few months ago. But due to some circumstances, that can’t take place today but I assure you I will arrange for a weekend for all age-grade groups. You will all be in your different uniform attires, you alone, the governor will meet with you, I will also be there. We will wine and dine. And it will happen very soon. Your excellency, I sincerely thank you. What I want to tell you all now is that, there is no one that is on earth that won’t die one day, but whenever death comes calling, open your eyes very well, don’t let them present an Awujale that is not worthy of the stool for you, The next ruling house, if they don’t have a viable candidate don’t take it from them, rather move unto the next ruling house for a viable candidate, because it’s not a governor’s Job to choose a King. Because as it is now, we will be moving forward. Ijebu will not be backward, that’s my prayer. I beg you don’t let them use Politics to select the next Awujale. Make sure that the person that will be the next Awujale is capable, human beings look at the face, while God looks at the heart, God will show you the way when the time comes”.
“Once again I want to wish you all Barka de Sallah. By this time next year, we will all be present in good health. The new government will do a lot of good things for us, therefore we should keep praying for him. God is the one who shows human beings the right path, May God continue to show Governor Abiodun the right path. I don’t know how to thank you all. The whole of Ijebu and all my well-wishers, I say thank you, Oloori Omoba. I say thank you. Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Imams, Pastors, Alhaji Adegunwa, Baba Adinni, Dr. Hassan, Balogun, Otun Balogun, the Chiefs, I thank you all. God will reward you well, once again to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, we have come a long way together, Thanks for celebrating this festival with me.
