Gov. SANWO OLU Congratulates City People @ 24

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the Management and Staff of City People Magazine at 24. He commended the award winning magazine for surviving all that has been dogging the print media industry over the last 24 years.

In a Goodwill message delivered by the Hon. Commissioner for Information, Mr. Gbenga Omotosho at the City People @ 24 Thanksgiving Service, the Governor commended City People for sustaining the brand in the last 2 decades. The Information Commissioner also congratulated the Management & Staff for surviving all the challenges of publishing since November 1996 when the magazine was set up. He said he has followed the growth of the magazine closely since inception and he is immensely happy that City People has proved all those who felt it will soon fizzle out, wrong.

The commendations came at the 24th Thanksgiving Service of the magazine held inside the Boardroom of City People, at its Gbagada office, in Lagos.

The event was attended by Pastor Dotun Ojelabi, the handsome Senior Pastor of Convenant Harvest Christian International Ministry, Lagos. He delivered a powerful sermon on 4 things people should do right now to survive the coming year. “2021 is here already, so we must begin to plan and prepare for it,” he said. He also congratulated City People for keeping hope alive.

In his 30 minutes sermon, Pastor Dotun Ojelabi mentioned 4 things every one must do to prepare for 2021. The first is Investment in Knowledge acquisition. The 2nd is Preparation. He revealed that preparation was a key thing for 2021. The 3rd is The Power of Diligence. He implored everyone present to double their level of hardwork. “The 4th is Careful Planning. He asked everyone to start planning for 2021. “The time to start planning for 2021 is now, not tomorrow”, he advised.

The Information Commissioner rounded up, by advising City People and the media generally to shun Fake news. “Fake News has become a big problem now. So, we have to be careful,” he explained. He maintained that all journalists should verify the information at their disposal before publishing. He also advised everyone to verify whatever they broadcast from their phone. “Be sure the information you send out from your phone is a fact, because fake news may cause a lot of trouble,” he warned.
