Governor Oyebanji‘s remarkable strides in infrastructure since he assumed office are undeniably evident, especially in road construction. There are numerous requests for road, culverts and bridge construction from various communities across the state, this has prompted the Governor to up his intervention initiatives.

Recognizing the urgency in addressing the challenges that bad road poses and his zero tolerance for dilapidated roads in Ekiti, Mr. Governor approved funds for comprehensive repairs of all damaged construction equipment at the Ekiti State Public Works Corporation.

This is to make the Corporation function effectively in its mandate of routine repair, rehabilitation of roads across the state and even construction, such that Ekiti roads remain motorable all year round.

Last Saturday and Sunday, the teams from the Office of Community Communications and the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery visited the corporation (see pictures).

According to the Director-General of the Corporation, Engr. Wale Fagoyinbo, Mr Governor is being proactive by ensuring that all the construction equipment and heavy vehicles are repaired to address the road network needs of communities before the rainy season. He said the type of repair that the Governor has approved funds for is such that it would enable the corporation to not only rehabilitate but carry out the construction of bridges, culverts and even roads.

Engr. Fagoyinbo disclosed that the equipment includes; concrete mixers, asphalt plants, silo trucks, water tankers, load loaders, payloader machines, excavators, and bulldozers, among others.

This move by Governor Oyebanji heralds another season of extensive road construction in the State, fulfilling one of the Governor’s campaign promises to make Ekiti roads accessible, thereby boosting the economic status of the state.
