  • Lauds Dr. Ajayi on state of facility

  • Sends Expert to Train more doctors on use of HIFU machine

Nordica Fibroid Centre, a subsidiary of Nordica Fertility Centre and leading centre in Nigeria known for providing top notch Fibroid care and treatment has been applauded by Haifu Medical Technology Co. Ltd for adequately integrating its HIFU into its operations.

Haifu Medical Technology Co. Ltd is a Chinese based company which produces the novel medical technology called HIFU machine which is not only capable of treating fibroids patients without undergoing surgery but also very effective in the treatments of solid cancer.

The company’s Managing Director of Global Planning, International Marketing and Business, an erudite Professor Rosie Xing who doubles as Director Laboratory of Translational Cancer Stem Cell Research Chongqing Medical University visited Nordica Fibroid Centre in Lagos state last week. She spoke extensively about the centre and the use of its HIFU facilities in treating fibroid patients in the country.

While applauding Dr. Ajayi whom she referred to as part of HIFU family, she expressed how impressed she was with the state of the facility she met on ground. She gave a big kudos to him for investing heavily in HIFU machines to enhance treatment of patients. She said;

“Firstly, I was impressed. We have about 60 centres worldwide and 80 percent of them are private centres. Dr. Ajayi’s centre stands out. It is the first centre minimally invasive set up that means endoscopy minimally invasive surgeries on one hand and non-invasive surgeries on the other hand. It’s not that non-invasive technology is the best. It’s about allowing doctors to choose the best options that will benefit patients the most. So, I’m actually impressed. Dr. Ajayi’s fertility has brought in HIFU technologies to provide solutions to women to preserve their fertility and want to have their babies.”

While granting the press interview, she stated the purpose of her visit was to discuss with Dr. Ajayi on how we can take this forward from one centre to more centres and how to broaden the Nigerian market. Meanwhile, she emphasized the high potential of HIFU machines in Africa health care delivery. She said; “we are living in the era of information technologies and Africa is gradually keying in into what the rest of the world is doing. HIFU technology is completely digitized. It’s an AI compliant means it works on the data information. With this, doctors no longer need knives. They use a virtual knife with the click of a mouse. If we develop this technology in Nigeria and Africa, we would have cutting-edge technology that would lead to medical transformation. We can transform the landscape of healthcare, for women care and for cancer patients.”

She said that her company is doing a lot in collaborating with Nordica Fibroid Centre in transferring HIFU technologies and the service to local medical teams and by extension taking care of patients in their hardest times. She however said that her company has sent Dr. Wu Panhong, a senior HIFU doctor from Chongqing Haifu Hospital to oversee the 2nd edition of the training which would last for the next 2 months.

Recall that the first phase of the training which was recently held within the last 3 months boasts of training a number of gynaecologists who have developed great skills in the operation of the HIFU machine, using it to render effective services to fibroid patients. Subsequent training on the use of the HIFU machine will, no doubt, provide more capable hands in providing treatment and care for the dreaded fibroid in Nigeria.
