The Hair Trend That’s About To Take Over 2017… Would This Work In Nigeria?

by Daniji Emmanuel

Each year January rolls around and brings in a time of change. With the new year brings new music, games, movies, foods, and of course fashion trends. 2016 was full of different fashion trends from short cut bangs to tattoo chokers. Fashion was heavily inspired by that of the nineties, with old classics returning, such as:

  • Velvet
  • Bandanas
  • Scrunchies

As well as visiting old trends, it’s also fun to discover new ones. Pastel colored hair was a big one a few years ago, and then there was that time everyone was dying their hair grey. It’s interesting following the trends that come and go, and it’s almost impossible to figure out how they started. So far, 2017 already has a new look and it’s called “blorange”.

Some people may have different names for this new look such as “rose gold” or even the good old “strawberry blonde”, so realistically this look has no rules. It’s popping up everywhere this year in a variety of shades and lengths, but the distinct washed out orange-pink color is making its rounds.

1. The trend is everywhere so far this year, with Georgia Jagger, Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall’s daughter, being the first celebrity to share it with the world on Instagram, dubbing it “blorange”.

2. It’s taken the internet by storm, tons of girls showing off their new locks. The great thing about “blorange” is that it’s so versatile and unique, anyone can rock it!

3. Sometimes it appears more red and pink, and others rock it brighter and more yellow. It’s the mixing of different shades that creates the peachy effect.

4. Though some people are calling this style a recycled “strawberry blonde”, there’s something specifically beachy and bright about this style that comes from the blending of different shades.

5. The name derives from the blood orange, not the combination of blonde and orange. So fear not if your natural hair isn’t blonde, anyone can rock this grunge look.

6. However some relate the color to that of a peach or a strawberry, some deeming the hair as “peachy hair”. Regardless of what fruit it’s being compared too, the orange and pink tones are present.

 7. It really pops, especially in photography.

8. The fact that the shade can be slightly adjusted makes it easy to rock regardless of skin tone. The versatility of this look is inclusive and inspiring.

 9. It looks great on long or short hair, and some have even kept the “blorange” to just a dip dye, leaving the rest of their hair natural which looks awesome too!

10. It’s a cute summery look even if it’s still the middle of January and a lot of places are covered in snow.

 11. Another plus about this look is that the more you wash it, the more faded and trendy it will look.

12. It works great on long cuts which are another popular 2017 trend, and it’s overall insanely cute. We can’t wait to see more blorange this year and look forward to whatever the next big hair trend will be!
