More and more women are rising up to empower women in their state and locality and this seems to be boosting the role of women in our society today.  Miss Olatinpo Odutola,The grand daughter of the late billionaire Adeola odutola has canvassed the need to empower women and adolescent girls through education and the elimination of domestic violence.

Miss Olatinpo Odutola is the Founder of Olubusola Akingbehin Memorial Foundation-a Non Governmental Organisations (NGO) that she named after her late mother Olubsola Ayodele Akingbehin.

Olatinpo has a BSc in Psychology from London Metropolitan University and also SAP Certified in Human Capital Management.

The single lady has provided delivery packs for pregnant women in rural ijebu ode. Clinics and state general hospital. She recently had a one on one session with City People’s DANIJI EMMANUEL where she spoke extensively on the need of women education and empowerment.

In the interview, she addressed the issue of NGOs been set up in Nigeria just for self benefits, she made it known that even if most of the NGOs are set up to attract foreign grants for self profit, there are still a few that are genuine and trustworthy. In her statement,  she said,  “Nigerian NGOs are not the forerunners of dubious activities.

Olatinpo Odutola’s NGO which is mainly centred around women empowerment, education and development has over the years focused on pregnancy and delivery,  an aspect the convener hold very dear. She has distributed delivery Packs to pregnant women. She also give talks to teenage girls about the advantages of abstinence and protection.  She has distributed exercise books to schools for female education. She has also volunteered with another NGO in her state, Ogundana state to give out shoes to students.

DRADAMS

Olatinpo believes that one of the things to do to combat the problem of fewer girls in the educational system in her state is to employ more women as teachers.

In regards to young girls going into prostitution, the grand daughter of late Ijebu businessman,  Chief Adeola Odutola has encouraged young girls into trading by starting them off with money for capital as well as paying off of their debts incurred from Micro Finance Bank loans.

As the head of her NGO, the humanitarian is currently working on a proposal to be submitted to the state government. She assured that its a unique and one of its kind project and it’s going to be ground breaking.

Olatinpo’s remark on her relationship with her state government and political ambition was, “As a daughter of the soil I will always have a relationship with Ogun state. Charity begins at home and my paternal grandfather illustrated that too well. So if I must show love it should start at home first. I must admit moving with the grassroots has made me privy to a lot of things. Quite a surprising high number of people have admonished me to get into politics and represent them. If such an opportunity presents itself I believe it will be foolish to ignore. Right now I am just giving back to my people” she said.
