Popular Real Estate player, Dr. Bamidele Onalaja celebrated his 50th birthay a week ago in Lagos. At the event, he stunned many when he talked about an assasination attempt on his life and that of his wife.

He revealed this at the Thanksgiving service of his 50th birthday, held in Christ Embassy Church, Lekki, Lagos on 21st of May, 2024. The property guru who has now been dubbed the Jagaban of real estate was full of thanks and praise for turning 50 in good and sound health.

During the service, he spilled out many of his testimonies at 50 and below is his speech at the service.

“I thank everyone at this gathering.

I met Pastor Chris Oyakhilome in my final year in school. I met him at a crusade I was invited to by my younger brother, Mr Success Onalaja. Please rise up where you are seated for recognition. He (Mr. Success) drew all of us to Christ Embassy. I can remember how my father while he was alive will beat him for going to Christ Embassy Church but he would still go.

My testimonies are unending but my own self-testimony (which is salvation) is the most important. I met Pastor Chris in the year 1999, at the National Stadium Surulere, where I was invited for a crusade. I had known Christ but I hadn’t been born again then. We were born to a Christian home and we all attended C & S church. My father was a disciplinarian. We call him Baba Ijebu. You will get to read him in my books. I will be launching two books today. One is my autobiography and the other one is for entrepreneurs. You all need to read it. After I met Pastor, I made up my mind I wanted to live a Christian life. I went for national youth service in 2001 and when I came back, I became a strong member of the Christ Embassy. I became a radical soul winner. I joined them and it taught me how to be a giver and also taught me how to call forth money where there is none, through the word of God.

And about 8 years ago, we relocated from the Mainland to Island. Since the day we stepped our feet in Christ Embassy in Lekki, we have seen how our lives transformed. 1000 per cent. Everything just changed for good after listening to our dear Pastor D. I call her my Mama. Thank you so much Pastor. You don’t know how much you have impacted my life.

My 50th year on earth has been so wonderful. In my wildest imagination, I never thought I would have achieved what I achieved within a short period. I grew up from the family of 10. From a family where you can not say you have a common wooden spoon. And God brought me up and lifted me to sit with Kings.

I want to recognise my mom. The mother who gave birth to me is late. She died over 25 years ago but this woman standing here today is also my mother. She brought me up since then to now. From my University days till now. I remember one day I was still a student at Lagos State University. And she was a Nurse at the Igbobi Hospital. We call her aunty Nurse. Anytime I go to see her she would give me garri, beans and money and tell me to go back to school. She’s extremely wonderful. I can’t thank her enough. I also thank my beautiful wife Tolulope Onalaja, popularly called AYABAMS. I thank her for her support and dedication. I can remember several years back when I traversed between telecommunication, real estate and banking before I finally settled for real estate. Through all those years she stood by me. There were days without money to buy food. My wife will spend her money and use everything within her to sustain the family. Thank you so much.

God has been so good to us. We started this real estate business 10 years ago and it went viral. We thank God for what He has enabled us to do in the body of Christ. The testimonies are endless like I said earlier but the important testimony is my salvation testimony.

Some few months ago, towards December last year and this testimony is one of the reasons I want to celebrate my 50th big. God saved me from a hired assassin. I don’t know how the person got into my bedroom, nobody understood. And I live in one of the most secure housing estates in Nigeria. The person came with a gun and knife but unfortunately for the person I was in Abuja. I was not in Lagos. My wife was at home. The person would have just killed her. But thank God. By the time she opened the door to the house and entered she saw blood everywhere. She alerted security and traced the blood to our bedroom. When they got to the bedroom they didnt see anybody. But there was blood that was traced to the bedroom. They searched everywhere, they didn’t see anybody. They said maybe there was nobody. They all went back. But after like 20 minutes she told one our neighbors to go and search the bedroom again, maybe someone was hiding somewhere. Lo and behold, they went to the bedroom to search again with 2 mobile police men. When they got the cantilever because it has a frame, they caught a guy who was hiding there and it was around 9:30 PM with gun and knife. Imagine what would have happened if she didn’t search again! She won’t even try to struggle with a man with a gun and knife. Immediately he saw the police he jumped out and attacked the police but with the help of another policeman, they were able to capture him and tie him. They called the estate police and he was taken to Alagbon in Ikoyi. The guy is in jail now and that’s one of the reasons why we are celebrating today.

Again, several years ago, I was also told to my face that I won’t see 50. And I told the person I will celebrate in your death or lifetime.

God has been so good to me and my wife and that’s why we say we needed to celebrate this. This is what money can’t buy.
