How Dr. OYELEKE AJIBOYE Shut Down IRAGBIJI

Friday 31st of May, 2024 was memorable and colourful in Iragbiji, Osun State, as the popular Ajiboye family in Iragbiji gave the late Olasunkanmi Ajiboye (FCA), who lived a good life a befitting final burial ceremony. Baba who lived a life full of beautiful memories was 92 years of age before he went to be with the Lord on the 12th of February, 2024.

The event which lasted for two days started on Thursday 30th of May with the wake-keep/service of songs which was held at the Prince Olasunkanmi Ajiboye compound, Adepoju Oyelade, GRA, Iragbiji, Osun state around 5pm.

On the second day, the event started with the funeral service at the First Baptist Church, Isale Oyo, Iragbiji, Osun State. This was done around 10am.

Shortly after this was a reception at the Pathfinders School of Health and Technology, Iragbiji.

At the church service, the officiating Pastor Rev Enibukun Oyetunji, delivered a touching attribute of late Prince Olasunkanmi. In his message, he revealed Baba was steadfast in his faith and love for God.

Reading the biography at the church service was his son, Dr Oyeleke Ajiboye. Also sitting beside him was the pretty wife of Dr Oyeleke, Mrs Damilola Ajiboye. She was elegant in the uniform aso-ebi.

 

WHAT ABOUT FRIENDS AND DIGNITARIES WHO STORMED THE EVENT?

In attendance were Madam Funke Kehinde, Real Estate millionaires members, Dr Simon, Abulesowo, Veritasi homes also sent his message.

Other prominent real estate players who have made names over the years also came.

Other dignitaries and eminent people at the reception were: Ileri Oluwa Group, Alhaji Shekarau popuparly called Mayor, Elder Prince Okunlola Johnson, Aragbiji Oba in Council, Baale Ayo Awokunle, Ataba of Iragbiji, Prince Adekunle Moshood Oluawo, Prince Adeniran Ibitoye, High Chief Kilanko, Otunba Ade, Iragbiji Development Association, Raji Isiaka, Barrister Lateef Adebayo (Financial Secretary), Pa Joseph, Hon. Adebayo former Chairman of Boripe LG, Oyedokun Olaniyan, Ladi Johnson, Oba Abdulrasheed Ayotunde (Aragbiji of Iragbiji), Hon. SO Lawal, APC Cheftains from Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Pastor Adeniji from London, all other friends from London, USA, Canada were all present. Engr Adigun, Elshaddai Members, Alhaji Adewoyin, friends from Lagos State government, Alhaji Sali Ajiboye, HRM Oba Yisa Oyedele (Onimedu of Orimedu land Ibeju land), HRM Oba Dairo Jacob, HRM Afeez Olakunle Badiru, HRM Sikiru Nureni, Hon BabaOba, Hon. Alhaji Yekini Balogun Kola.

 

ON THE BANDSTAND WAS SIR SHINA PETERS

No one does it better than Sir Shina Peters when it comes to pure and undiluted afro Juju music. His music and performance were one of the highlights of the celebration, as children and family members of the deceased couldn’t help but dance and dance to SSP’s ever green songs. They were highly serenaded and thoroughly entertained.

Some of the children of late Prince Olasunkanmi who made the difference are: Mr Dele Ajiboye, Yewande, Dr. Oyeleke Ajiboye, Oluponle Oluwadamilola Oyewunmi. They all dazzled in aso-oke attire picked for the occasion.

Dr. Oyeleke and his pretty wife Mrs Damilola Ajiboye put up an unforgettable show, as they both ensured people were well catered for. They ensured security is top notch and food was served round, which was more than enough anyway. No one left the party without being adequately taken care of.

 

WHO WAS PA AJIBOYE IN HIS LIFETIME: OBA OF IRAGBIJI, REVEALS

The deceased was a great man. He was a Prince and Accountant and he retired back to Iragbiji. He was one of the leaders who made things right in the town. He did well as a king maker during his lifetime. He lived a good life. He was a very good man. My prayer is that, he would get the mercy of God. I also wish and pray for everybody who came here a safe journey back to their base in Jesus name.

Late Prince Olasunkanmi Ajiboye’s remarkable records/achievements while he was alive are mentioned below.

Prince Olasunkanmi Ajiboye was born on the 24th day of October, 1931 in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Council, Osogbo, Osun State to the late Pa Ajiboye and late Ma Osunola of Daudu Olukotun compound formerly known as Elemo Owa. He was the firstborn of the family.

He attended Iragbiji Baptist Day School and also Iree Baptist Day School where he obtained his Standard Six Certificate in 1949. He then went on to secondary school at Niger College Benin City, Edo State and spent 2 years at Baptist College Iwo, Osun state as a Pivotal student.

In 1959 he was baptised by Rev E. A Omilade at the Baptist Church, Iree.

He worked as a teacher at Macjob College, Abeokuta from January 1955 to Decemeber 1955.

From 1958 to 1959, he worked at the Baptist Secondary Modern School, Ikire as a teacher before he was invited to teach as the first class teacher at Oke Iragbiji Grammar School in 1960 when Mr Awonewi was Principal of the school.

In that year he was awarded a 5 year scholarship to study for a University degree at the United Kingdom.

In 1962, while still in London, he changed his course of study to accountancy which he successfully completed and obtained certificate a d membership of the Association of Certified Accountants in London, UK.

 

He worked as an Accounts Clerk at the British Railways in the Chief Accountant office Southern House, Croydon, England, from 1966 to 1969 and Staflex International Limited London also as an accounts Clerk, from 1973 to 1974. He was again employed as an Accontant at H. J Victor Limited, London in 1976.

On his return from the UK in 1976, he worked for Evans Brothers (Nigeria Publishers) Limited, Jericho road, Ibadan as an Accountant. He worked and served as an Accountant, Audit Manager, Principal Consultant, Chief Credit Controller, Chief Accountant at various organisations.

His company Olasunkanmi & Co (Chartered Accountants) which was established in 1998 expanded organically and became one of the sought after accounting firms.

Olasunkanmi Ajiboye was engaged in the affairs of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and UK as he obtained a certificate as fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) UK and a Fellow at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.

Baba was one of the outstanding sons of Iragbiji and his contribution to the development of Iragbiji will forever be remembered especially the felicitation of Wema Bank to Iragbiji in the 1980s.

He was the Chairman of the Agbalagbi Group; one of the social-political groups in APC. He lived an exemplary life worthy of emulation.

He was a strong man and a goal-getter whose motto was Never Lose Hope”. He taught everyone around him morals.
