As the 2024 edition of Ojude Oba is fast approaching and holds in a few days to come, many of the Regberegbe (Age Grade Groups) in Ijebuland are already bracing up for the glamourous annual festival. Many of them have dotted the important Is’ and crossed the needed Ts’ in making sure they have a wonderful show at this year’s event.
Notable among the top Regbegbes is the Egbe is Bobagunwa Akile ijebu. This group is made up of members born between 1980 and 1982. The male gender of the group is called Egbe Bobagunwa Okunrin Akile Ijebu while their female version is known asEgbe Bobagunwa Obinrin Akile Ijebu.
Both versions of the age group are stepping out in grand style at this year’s Ojude Oba. They are going to pull stunts that would wow the entire people of Ijebuland and spice up the event. The group has come of age in Ijebuland as they are known for always supporting the Awujale, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Adetona by contributing their quota in advancing the course of Ijebu in its entirety.
Egbe Bobagunwa under the leadership of Giwa Bayo Mosuro is a force to reckon with in Ijebuland. It is blessed with members, many of whom are reputable people in the society. The group is made up of top philanthropists, business icons, and captains of industries. It also boasts of having the youngest Baba Egbe (Patron) of the entire regberegbes in Ijebuland. It also has the youngest Akeweje (Youth Leader) in the whole ijebu.
Citypeople can tell you for free that quite a number of members of Egbe Bobagunwa are doing well in the political landscape of Ogun state. They pride in the likes of Hon. Adeleye Lukman who is the minority leader in Ogun State House of Assembly as the Otun Giwa (second-in-command) Egbe Bobagunwa; Hon. Bakare Olanrewaju who is the Chief Whip in the state House of Assembly, and Hon. Ifedolapo Owode.
The group also has as members the likes of Hon Princess Elizabeth Akinola, past Vice Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government Council, Chiefs Adedimeji Otubu who is the Balogun of the group is the current Chairman of the Lagos chapter of the Nigeria Maritime Pilot Association (NMPA), Hon. Omotayo Ayinde, the Lisa is the Vice Chairman of Egbe Idimu LCDA in Lagos state, Agbaakin Olanrewaju Tunwase Adesimbo Mabawonku who is the Agbaakin of egbe Bobagunwa is the first baba egbe to emerge from Bobagunwa and also the youngest Baba egbe in the entire ijebu Regberegbe. He is the Baba Egbe of Egbe Bobasete, another new and younger age grade group which just got endorsed from the Awujale.
Mr. Olanrewaju Salisu who is the Obalofin of Egbe Bobagunwa is the first and youngest Akeweje to emerge from Bobagunwa in the entire ijebu Regberegbe. He holds this position for the Egbe Bobasete. We have Mr. Ayoola Kadir as the Kakanfo Egbe Bobagunwa. He is the chairman of 2024 Ojude Oba Ileya committee.
Notable among its key members who are pulling strings in their respective endeavours are Tolulope Oredope, Jagunmolu of Bobagunwa and Wabilai Taofeek Eniba a strong standing member of the egbe while Hon. Ifedolapo owode is the Akinrogun of Bobagunwa.
All these personalities are going to storm this year’s Ojude Oba for good. Egbe Bobagunwa is a group you need to watch out for and follow at this year’s Ojude Oba Festival.
