Thursday, 21st February 2019 was a remarkable day for Lagos lawyer, Mohammed Fawehinmi, who is the first son of late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, who is the popular human rights lawyer, as friends and family members gathered to celebrate his 50th birthday with him. Venue was the GRA Ikeja, Lagos, the residence of his late dad. The event was well attended by prominent lawyers, Human right activists, politicians, business tycoons media gurus, captains of industries. They all came from far and near to felicitate with Moh. Some of his late fathers friends came like Senator Femi Okuronmu and wife and Dr. Mrs. Fadayomi.
Many of the young lawyers who practised in his dad’s chambers came, like Adindu Ugwuzor and Nnemeka Amaechina who used to be deputy head of chambers and the sons of late Justice Thomas like Dele & Ayo.
His father in his lifetime, Chief Abdul Ganiu Oyesola Fawehinmi GCON, SAN was a well-respected radical lawyer who shook the judicial system with his radical perspective to law. He was a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and also a mentor who groomed 250 lawyers in his chambers at Anthony Village, in Lagos. He was a disciplinarian to the core and he invested in people around him. Many would wonder why the celebrant (Mohammed) was beaming with smiles all through the event. The reason is not farfetched. He managed to escape death in a fatal auto mobile accident that happened several years ago. The remains of the car he drove at the time of the accident showed that his escape was divine and people wondered how he survived. He was filled with so much joy and gratitude to his maker who has spared his life to that moment to witness a golden jubilee. He also appreciated friends and families who have given him emotional, physical, mental, spiritual support over the years.
In celebrating 50, he had a luncheon in his late father’s compounds where he hosted guests.
It was reunion party of eloquence of lawyers across the country that crossed path with the ideals and principles of late Gani Fawehinmi. These lawyers hold the Fawehinmis in high Esteem even after Chief Gani had passed on. The celebrant’s friends of over 35 years were also present to rejoice with their friend and his families. Basirat Fawehinmi Biobaku, a lawyer and also a sister to the celebrant was a perfect host. She made sure every guest was comfortable.
Although some of the siblings could not make it to the event because they are scattered in different countries of the world but their good will message and gifts
The celebrant’s siblings include Saheed Fawehinmi (a Fashion Designer), Basirat Fawehinmi (Lawyer), Dr. Hafusat Fawehinmi Ooni (a US based Medical doctor) Toyin Komolafe (a Computer Analyst) Dr. Idiat Aliu (Optomologist) Simbiat Osho (Investment Bank), Mubarak Fawehinmi (Aeronautic Engineer)
Mohammed Fawehinmi was almost moved to tears as he could not believe his eyes, as dignitaries kept trooping in to honour him one after the other. It was celebration galore. Mrs. Ganiyat Ibukun Fawehinmi, the proud mother of the celebrant who will turn 70 in May was very active at the party and she thanked God for making his son witness this day. The Event came to an end with a photography session with the celebrant and his friends and family members.
Many of his classmates turned up for the event. They include Ayodele Aina, Tonye Briggs, Adeyinka Benjamin, Santino Akinfenwa, Dele Jagun, Tola Odukomaiya, Bunmi Adu, Seyi Oshunkoya, James Baiyekusi, Micheal Usifoh, Wale Olaoye (MD Halogen), Dapo Onagorowa, and Barr. Seun Onagoruwa, Barr Yinka Muyiwa. Other guests include Mr. Gbenga & Mrs. Bosola Ojo. They both run Akinrinsola Ojo & Co. Mr Olumide Fusika (SAN) came.
