mo bimpe

Her nickname, is Mo Bimpe, and that’s what everybody calls her. But her real name is Oyebade Adebimpe. She is one of the hottest and highly rated actresses in Nollywood. So hot is Mo Bimpe that she is always on location. She is the darling of many Producers and Directors who always want her to play many roles in their movies.

Last week, she spoke to City People Publisher, SEYE KEHINDE on her success story.

You are one of the hottest and highly rated actresses in Nollywood How does this make you feel?

Wow, it’s been a lovely and exhilarating ride to this point. I’ve been blessed with these talents by God and I’m just now showcasing them to the whole world. I’m extremely proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish, at the same time i won’t rest on my laurels.  Being highly rated right now is certainly a blessing, it makes me feel proud of the moment I chose this career. I have God and my supporters to thank for that.

How many years have you been acting? And how did you start?

I starred in my first movie feature in 2016 December while I was doing my NYSC service. I was already a well-known model then though. I got my acting break by responding to an online/video audition to star in Yomi Fabiyi’s movie titled Crossroad (Agbede Meji). I got the green light to play the lead female act alongside the talented and charismatic actor Gabriel Afolayan. That movie paved the way for me as I got several movie roles off the back of its release in October 2017.

How easy or challenging has the journey been?

Actually, it hasn’t been easy like people think, but thank God. like all walks of life, our industry has it’s own pros and cons, I’m not complaining though, success only comes through hard work and perseverance. It was harder when I started but it’s so much easier now because I have so many mentors, who I lean on for advice and direction and I’m glad I’m on the right path by God’s grace.

Which movie shot you into the limelight?

It was my first movie feature really. Agbede meji a.k.a Crossroad by Yomi Fabiyi. It was directed by veteran director Abbey Lanre, it also featured acting luminaries like Gabriel Afolayan and Toyin Aimakhu, Sola Kosoko, Stella Monye to name just a few. I played the lead role “Onikede”, it got me the “breakout star of the year” at the 5th edition of the Annual MAYA awards. Producers and directors were amazed a rookie could take on such a challenging role, they were really impressed. I haven’t looked back since the release

How come you have not been distracted?

It’s very much easy to get distracted in the Nigerian movie industry because of the glamour that comes with the job without the right guidance like I said earlier I have so many mentors now who I look up to and emulate. I’m a fervent Christian with parents who always showed me the right path, I know where I’m coming from and I know I have only just scratched the surface of what I can accomplish, I still have a very long way to go to get to the top. I have to stay determined, locked-in and focused to achieve greatness.

Que6 Do you only actor you also produce?

I’m an actress and a filmmaker, I’ve always had passion for storytelling and script writing as a child.  I consider myself highly resourceful, so I knew from the onset that I was going to produce my own movies. I have my own production company called “Oyebade Adebimpe Productions”. I produced the movie “Dear Sister” which featured legends like Yinka Quadri and Opeyemi Aiyeola, and hunks like Ninolowo Bolanle (Nino B), Adeniyi Johnson. The movie has been receiving rave reviews since. I’m in the process of releasing another movie titled “Entrapped” which features an ensemble cast of myself, Mercy Aigbe, Odunlade Adekola, Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), Lateef Adedimeji, Tope Sholaja, Bukola Adeeyo and Ibrahim Itele. I’m working on another one titled “07 : 07 “A day to remember” Expect some other blockbuster movies from me in the future too. Laughs
