It was indeed a celebration of a fulfilled life on Friday December 8, 2023 as a seasoned technocrat and distinguished son of the source, Prince(Dr) Patrick Ologbenla of Giesi ruling house and his siblings, Prince Adekunle Ologbenla, Princess Mrs Adenike Adetunji,Princess Mrs Omobolanle Adegboro and Prince Adeyemi Elegbede buried their late mum Princess Dorcas Temilomo Adesanmi (JP) amidst pomp and pageantry.
Iya Nurse, as the deceased was fondly called, began her last journey on thursday the 7th of December with lying-in-state and christian wake at her residence .
Before Mama’s remains was interred at her residence on the 8th December, there were funeral and thanksgiving services respectively at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Ayegbaju, Ilode, Ile-Ife.
After which guests were hosted to an elaborate and colourful reception at Oranmiyan Grammar School, Sabo, Ile-Ife.
The Osun-born highlife sensation, Dr Gbenga Falope Jnr was on stand by to entertain guests.
To say that the burial ceremony was glamorous is an understatement; it drew all the who-is-who from all walks of life within and outside Nigeria down to Ile-Ife.
Apart from the massive turnout of top dignitaries, everything about the party speaks royalty and class that Prince Ade Ologbenla represents.
Also noteworthy at the party was the royal representation of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi (Ojaja 11). the monarch’s staff of office was present throughout the 2-day program.
Baba Oba, John Oluropo Ogunwusi, the father of the Ooni of Ife was at the funeral service with his lovely wife, while the monarch’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Comrade Moses Olafare and one of the oloris were also at the reception.
Alhaji Bashiru Awoterebo, a former minister of state for water resources, a nephew of the deseased, was on ground to receive top government functionaries and captains of industries at the ceremony. Okero of Elegberun land, Oba Adedokun Evans Ademiluyi, also a nephew of the deseased and his wife played host to ife lagbos obas such as Oba layade segun, oba fagbemi Emmanuel, the ELekota of Ekiti, Oba Adeyemi Adediran, Owa miran of Esa oke and Kola sanni, the Chief Executive of Koltel Hotel were among the creme de la creme of the society that graced the ceremony.
Mama Dorcas Temilomo Jadesola Amori Ajiferuke Adesanmi in her lifetime was a qualified nurse who served at various hospitals including Adeoyo State Hospital, Ibadan and Oranmiyan local government maternity centres,in Osun State. She retired in 1993 as a nursing Matron after years of meritorious service. Due to her uprightness, Mama has been described by many as a disciplinarian but highly compassionate and a hardworking woman.
After her retirement, Mama traded in cloths, wholesale kolanut and owned a pharmacy. She passed away on October 16, 2023 at the age of 88. She is survived by children, grand children and great grandchildren.
