The blast of danceable music from the beautiful edifice situated in Lagos showed that something remarkable was going on at the place. Low and behold, it was the birthday of a very important personality who dwells in that area. Saturday, 6th March 2021 was a day to remember in Lagos as men of timber and caliber trooped in to celebrate with one of the youngest royal fathers in Yorubaland, HRM Oba Nurudeen Oluwadare Osoja, the Onikogbo of Ikogbo as he clocked forty years of age.
Did we tell you that Oba Oluwadare is also a certified engineer? Yes, he is. He practices as well. He is the Chairman and CEO of Deensattech Engineering Company Ltd. A civil engineering and construction firm that has its headquarters in Victoria Island and another branch on the Mainland in Lagos.
Oba Oluwadare Osoja proved indeed that life begins at forty as he put up a five-star performance while dancing to different songs. His outfits portrayed royalty while the event held with serious considerations for all COVID-19 protocols. City People’s DAMILARE SALAMI 07033526688/08155134152 and Senior Photojournalist, ABDULRASHEED SANNI graced the event and they bring you a detailed report as well as beautiful pictures from the event, enjoy.
ONIKOGBO BROUGHT IKOGBO DOWN TO LAGOS
The event was expected to hold at the palace of Onikogbo but it was not to be. The ever smart and ever young kabiesi brought the event down to his place of abode where only a select few would have access. The reason is not far-fetched. It is a way of curtailing crowd gathering and reducing the spread of the dread COVID-19.
However, the event didn’t lack any royal ingredient at all as all the expected members of the royal leaders were present of duly represented all in honour of Oba Osoja. Oba Oluwadare who had practically spent all his life in Lagos before mounting the throne of his ancestors didn’t feel less at home. He received all the glamour and razzmatazz he could have received at Ikogbo if the event had held there. The shout of Kabiesi at several intervals only proved one thing, it is a royal birthday and nothing short of it.
IT WAS AN ALL-WHITE EVENT
Starting with Kabiesi down to every guest in attendance, the outfits adorned at the event have at least a touch of white. As a symbol of peace. As a symbol of total allegiance to Oba Oluwadare Osoja, the youths of Ikogbo kingdom did not only come in their numbers, they came with a well-identified white and black zebra-like cap that separated them from every other guest.
OLORI IN A SIMPLE BUT CLASSY OUTFIT
Kabiesi’s beloved wife, Olori Osoja was one of the most beautiful ladies at the event. To say that royalty has a good fitting on her would be an understatement. However, she also appeared to be a woman of class and simplicity with her mode of dressing. Olori was dressed in a simple white gown but definitely not cheap. Her attire spoke of quality in simplicity. She was a beauty to behold as many of the ladies in attendance rallied around her for a selfie. Some even requested that she pose with her simple style. That spoke of how well appreciated the outfit was.
KABIESI STUNNED IN TRADITIONAL ROYAL ATTIRE
To say that Oba Oluwadare Osoja is a fashionista would amount to just stating the obvious. Many engineers are known to be very bad dressers but HRM Oba Osoja is one with a difference. His charming smile always accompanies his great dress sense whenever he is at a function. His 40th birthday party sold him out completely this time around. There was no hiding place for him because all eyes were on him. As he walked majestically into the venue of the event. Oba Oluwadare was dressed in Agbada, Dansiki and Soro. Of course, it was also a zebra-colored outfit, decorated in strapped white and black.
FAST-RISING COMPERE, BRYAN ABAYOMI ANCHORED EVENT
Bryan is not your regular host. There’s something unique about his style. The way he expresses his jokes in a serious manner only spoke of his level of exposure and maturity. Young, agile, well-read, well exposed and funny are some of his attributes that came to the fore as he anchored his first royal event. Bryan brought life to the show. He dished out jokes when necessary and was never economical with them. He also spoke about the role and influence Oba OluwadareOsoja and his darling wife have on him. Everyone loved him for doing a great job at the royal birthday party. He has no doubted sold himself out to many of those present that evening.
ANOTHER ROYAL FATHER STEPPED-IN IN STYLE
Birds of a feather they say flock together. Such was Oba Oluwadare who also attracted another royal father to his birthday party. If a gathering of fewer than fifty people has more than one royal father in attendance, then it signifies nothing else but class. HRM Oba Babatunde Ogunronbi, the Onishasha of Shasha kingdom in Lagos majestically walked in to celebrate his friend and fellow Oba on his 40th birthday. He didn’t just attend, he also proved that royalty can sometimes mean a display of wealth as he sprayed some of the performers at the event.
DJ ACAPELLA SERVED MUSIC TO EVERYONE
DJ Acapella is one of the happening disc jockeys in Idimu and Lagos mainland. For a royal father of the 21st century to entrust any DJ with the entertainment of guests on his birthday, you must understand that such a DJ must have made a huge impression before such a contract is sealed. Of a truth, DJ Acapella didn’t disappoint. He serenaded everyone with a blend of the oldies and currently trending songs. Trust Oba Oluwadare Osoja and his Queen, they so enjoyed the music when it was time to dance. Not many Obas make great dancers but Kabiesi Onikogbo is surely one of them.
RADIO HOST CUM YORUBA CHANTER, AKEWIDOLA STOLE SHOW
One of the moments that will remain memorable to Oba Oluwadare Osoja and his loved ones on his birthday celebration was the act that was put up by fast-rising radio hist and Yoruba chanter, Akewidola who chanted the praises of HRM Oba Engr Oluwadare. For over 15 minutes, Akewidola was deeply engrossed in the praises of His Majesty without any loss of words. At a point, Kabiesi Onikogbo didn’t know when he started spraying him sporadically. It didn’t end there, the Onishasha of Shasha also joined in the spraying spree as Akewidola continued with his art and act. By the time he rounded off, the entire guests were already on their feet with a clapping and standing ovation for a man who put up a five-star performance in honour of a beloved royal father.
EX-LAGOS COMMISSIONER HONORED KABIESI
Mr Gabardeen Olabode Waheed is the immediate past commissioner of Local Government Service Commission in Lagos State. He is a good friend of Oba Oluwadare Osoja. While addressing the guests, he talked about how he cemented his friendship with the Onikogbo on Facebook and the many impacts the Kabiesi has had in his life. He was among the few who talked about Oba Engr, Oluwadare Osoja at 40.
A ROYAL DANCE AT A ROYAL 40TH BIRTHDAY
One of the talking points on the evening was Kabiesi’s dance with his wife and friends. Oba Oluwadare is such a great stepper. His dancing skills were not matched by anyone. It wasn’t a competition but Kabiesi stood out among the men and women who mounted the podium to celebrate with him via dancing.
BABA OBA WAS HERE TOO
It is the joy of every father to always see their children do well. Such was the kind of joy Pa Osoja expressed seeing his son has become the father of Ikogbo where he hailed from and also doing well on all fronts as a husband, father, certified engineer, CEO, business owner and above all a king. Pa Osoja started the celebration with an opening prayer before the clerics took over.
OBA NURUDEEN OLUWADARE OSOJA APPRECIATED HIS GUESTS
The day ended with closing remarks and a vote of thanks by the celebrant, the Onikogbo of Ikogbo himself, Oba Nurudeen Oluwadare Osoja. His heartfelt appreciation went to all his guests, old and young, the VIPs and even those who were not on the high table.
