•How His Friends Flew In From UK, CHICAGO & NEW YORK
Last week, the remains of Prince Adewale Saubana Adeniyi was laid to rest in Lagos. The burial rites were done over 2 days, starting with the Wake Keep/Service of Songs on Wednesday 11th January 2023 and Funeral Service, the next day, Thursday, 12th January, 2023.
The Wake Keep/Service of Songs took place at Imperial Hall, Plot 2 Jobi Fele Way, Opposite Regency Hall, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, while Funeral Service took place at Omega Memorial Garden Cemetery, at Ojodu Berger, Lagos. Reception followed immediately at Imperial Hall.
He was born on 5th December, 1963 and died on 17th December, 2022. It was a big burial that made headline news on social media, because in his life time, Prince Saubana Adewale Adeniyi was quite popular. He was a socialite. He was a businessman. He used to live abroad, in the US, for years before he relocated to Lagos to start a new life.
His wife, Yinka Lanitade Adeniyi is also a popular naija celebrity woman who lives in New York where she owns a big African store. She is also a show promoter. They have been married for the past 33 years. A few months before his death, he fell ill. He received medial attention and appeared to have gotten better. A few weeks after, he passed on.
Because of how popular he and his wife were before his death, many Big Boys & Babes flew into Lagos from London, US, Canada and other countries to honour him. Over 150 celebrity Big Boys and Babes showed up at the Wake Keep, Service of Songs, Funeral and Reception. It was a roll call of all the Big Boys in the US, where he once lived and became big. In his lifetime he was a big businessman and had a larger than life image. He was friends with many of the US socialites in New York. That is why many of them stormed Lagos for his burial.
Also, about 100 celebrity Big Babes flew in from abroad to support Yinka, his wife, who lives in New York. She came for the burial, with her children, Anita Adelanke Adeniyi, (his first fruit), Abiola Adewale Adeniyi (Jnr) and Angel Adebola Adeniyi (Daughter), all of whom live in New York.
Anita, his first child works in New York where she is big in terms of her activities. She is the one behind EXPERIENCE in New York, an event that brings blacks in the Diaspora together. So big has it become that it usually attracts the sponsorship of many companies Experience is held every July. Anita studied Psychology & Mass Communication at the City College of New York. The 2nd born of the deceased, Junior is a Rapper in the US. The 3rd born, Angel, is in the University in States Island.
The 2 day burial had in attendance, the following celebrity guests like Mrs. Deola (a Customs Officer) who is the Senior sister of the wife of the deceased, Hon. Yetunde Adekanbi, Tope, Biodun Ejigbadero, Bummie Omabuwa (who flew in from London), Bimbo Pitan, Biola Abuga, Odunola Oredein, Bukky Basir, Banke Adetoro (from London), Funke Adeto ba, Deola (CEO TADS Fashion), Esther Dior (from London, Temilola Bakre (from New York) Tutu Boston (who dazzled with her sexy shape), Kemi (Events Planner), Alhaja Fausat, Yinka Anifowosore (Alfa) of London, Adetutu Balogun (wife of Ibeju Lekki House of Reps Member Bayo Balogun), Bola Awokoya, Olori Funke Akiolu, Ronke, Chief Mrs. Doyin Lanlehin, Olori Alhaja Riskat Ayoka Latris, Lady Moore, Tola (from Florida), Raliat (from Chicago), Temilola Bakare (from New York), Eniola Abiodun (Oyinbo Chicago), Bolaji (Iya Kofoshi) from Canada and Ify (the wife of Hon. Gbolahan Bagosto. The Big Boys include Kenny Ascot, Gbenga Akanni, Muyiwa Awolese, Sulyman Adeyi, Wale Sagaya, Jasu of New York, Hon. Dare from Ogun State Kamal Balogun (from Boston) and Taiwo Olabosipo (from New York).
Other big boys are Timmy of Batltimore, Babalaje of New Jersey, Femi John of New York, Yinka Kowope of New York, Dr. Sam of New York, Kofo Wonder, Lekan Bilewu, Orji of New York.
The super Big Boys were not left out. These are big boys like Bolaji Basir (who came with his wife Bukky for the 2 days), Tunji, Steve Sowemimo, Hon. Bolaji Pitan (aka Father), Sina Olowo Ake, Jaagu, Taye from Canada, Wole Keru, Sule Ata Wewe, Akindele from London, Hon. Dare, Deji from New York, Kunle Sobande from New York.
When the news of his death first broke, many mistook Prince Saubana Adewale Adeniyi for another celebrity who is also called Alhaji Saubana. Because both of them are Saubana, it was difficult to differentiate, more so K1 had praise sang both of them in the past.
At a recent show, K1 differentiated between the 2 Saubana’s. He dispelled the rumour that it is Alhaji Wale Atanda Saubana that died. He said Alhaji Wale Akanda Saubana is different from Wale Saubana (Oko Yinka) that just died, he explained this at one of his shows in Lagos. Alhaji Wale Atanda’s wife is Bolanle by name. They are both fine, hale and hearty.
City People gathered that Prince Saubana Adewale Adeniyi that died is a friend to Gbenga Akanni. He is from Efon Alaye. His wife’s name is a popular lady in New York known as Yinka Lanitade.
