Princess Cynthia Andrew was a big name in the Lagos Society scene before she dropped off the scene.
Itwas a deliberate decision she took to just lie low. Having rocked the LagosSocial scene for decades, Princess Cynthia who is a top fashion designer decidedto operate below the radar.
In those good old days no A-Class Owambe party was complete without Princess Cynthia and her set of friends attending. She has so many big sisters she parties with. She couldn’t say No because of her job.
Many of her clients who are mainly women often invite her to their parties and she couldn’t say no. So she had to honour them with her presence.
But after a while, she got tired of partying and had to slowdown . That is why for the past 7 years or so she has not been a regular face at many Lagos parties. But even at that you can’t help but notice this pretty Lagos society woman at any party she attends. This is because of Princess Cynthia Andrew’s signature
If you have noticed for some time now this pretty lady who used to rock lagos social scene many years back has mellowed a bit. Then, Cynthia Andrew always graced major parties in the past until few years ago when she dropped off the social scene and went below the social radar. Early last year, she reappeared after a long absence and many of her close pals began to wonder what happened. She responded but before anyone could notice her presence she disappeared again.
City People Magazine is happy to tell you that this lady is back on the Lagos social scene. She has been sighted at many Lagos big parties lately. She was sighted at maritime top shot, Princess Vicky Haastrup’s husband’s recent 70th birthday held at Harbour Point where she stepped out with her 3 younger sisters.
Few days ago, she was with her large guests at the burial of late Mrs Odegua Angelina Ikhide. It was at the City Hall in Lagos. Cynthia Andrew is one of the 18 adopted children of Mama Ikhide. She rocked the same attire with Mamas’ Children.
Speaking with City People Magazine, Cynthia Andrew revealed that she shares a very strong bond with Mama. She explained further that Mama brought her to Lagos after she left her high school in Edo state. She always slept on the same bed with Mama while she learnt the act of being accommodating from her. “Mama is so giving, she treats all of us the same way. she is so accommodating that she made sure I didn’t miss home. Mama was my Mum’s Aunty and when she came to Ishan, she told my Mum I should be left to come to Lagos with her. I stayed with her at her Surulere home before I went to University and went abroad. She is a rare Gem.
Who is Princess Cynthia we asked last week.
“I run a big fashion house. I have been running it for over 20years. I have been able to build my brand. My designs are distinct and unique.
The highly fashionable woman whose floor-length emerald green dress fitted her body frame revealed what makes her collections distinct. I love fashion. I love to see people looking gorgeous. Fashion to me is just something natural. I was never trained for this, I did not go to school for this, not even the measurement I was trained to do, so it’s a thing I love…I love looking good. I see people on the street and I say oh my God, she’s so beautiful, I wish, I can dress her up, transform her. I just love to look good and see people look good so that is what made me go into this business
Not many can forget how this pretty woman converged many big Nigerians for her 40th birthday many years ago. It was one of it’s kind as it had Queen of Juju music, Queen Ayo Balogun on bandstand. The event which took place at 10deree in Ikeja was a star studded birthday which shook Lagos to it’s root. When this pretty Edo babe was asked how old she is, she revealed that she is closer to 50. “I am just well over 40 but i am very close to my 50“
What is the secret of your beauty? “I don’t have any secret. I eat well. I don’t eat junk food. Though I don’t do exercise. I will just say it is pure Grace of God. I am contended with what I have. I don’t keep grudges and I am always happy too. Happiness reflects from within. When you have God’s favour, when you have his grace, there is nothing else you need and that is what has been keeping me. I don’t have any medical issue that is taking me to hospital. My complexion, my size, my shape, all is to the glory of God. There is no particular thing I do to keep that. I am a complete woman. I don’t use any medicated stuff.“
The fluent designer also let us through many of the schools she went to.
I did International Relations and Diplomacy before I went abroad to further.
What can she not be caught wearing. She was asked?
I can’t be caught wearing clothes that are revealing, have three colours and I always put these three colours together; yellow, orange and green“
This celebrity babe who was seen with her sisters was asked who are friends are? I don’t keep many friends again. I have people who are close to me but presently my crowd is small. I am always in the company of my sisters. One of them is also a designer. We run the fashion house together. I also have another sister who is into skin care. My sisters are always with me at social functions.
She has a name that rings a bell, how long has she been rocking the Lagos social scene. “I have been rocking Lagos social scene for a while. She explained.
“I have been rocking Nigeria social scene after I came back from abroad to start my fashion brand. I will say I have been around for close to 20years or more.”
The designer with a difference once told one of the dailies that she doesn’t sketch her designs and that is why she is different.
“That is where I think I am different. I don’t sketch, I don’t sew and I don’t cut. All I do is to drop designs. You rarely see me choose styles from the magazines except if you come and say this is what you want; I create my designs myself. So, it’s a blessing from God, and it’s a gift from God. Every blessed day, I come up with designs and my designs come spiritually like God drops them in my system. I could just be sleeping in the middle of the night and I get designs, I get up and begin to write the description of what I saw and put in practice the next day with my staff. Sometimes, I could come up with ten, fifty designs.“`
