Benjamin Uche Odunzeh is the CEO of EUC Homes. For close to 3 years, Mr. Ben Odunzeh has captained the ship of EUC Homes, making it an enviable brand in the real estate sector. EUC Homes has become a force to reckon with in a short while making waves with the efforts and technology the firm has put into it.
Last week, E.U.C. Homes bagged the Best-Run Real Estate Company of the Year 2018 at the 4th City People’s Real Estate Awards.
In an interview with City People’s TITILOPE OGUNLEYE, Ben Odunzeh, spoke about how he started real estate amongst many other things.
The brand, EUC Homes, is a big name when it comes to housing and properties. What is the full meaning of the acronym, EUC?
EUC means, Elegant, Unique, Comfortable homes. Those three words are what we want to have in our homes. So, we plan these key words into our homes
EUC is a recognised brand in real estate, for how long have you been running it?
We have been running it for 3 years. We started in 2015 and will be 3 years old by September, 2018.
As the Chief Executive Officer of EUC Homes, can you tell us how you started the business?
I have always been in the business from the United States; I have always been an investor. So when I came back to Nigeria, I invested more in real estate since I was 19. I invested in it more and tried to solve problems and overcome challenges that I was faced with in the past and I started EUC.
Do you have parents who are top players in the real estate business?
Yes, my parents are top players in real estate. They are: Chief and Mrs. Odunzeh. My father was the MD/CEO of Nzehmag Nigeria Limited and my mum is a retired matron from Igbobi Hospital and they both studied in Germany.
You won Best-Run Real Estate Company Award. How do you feel getting this award coming from a very big brand like City People?
I feel so humbled, but I am not surprised because I put in so much hardwork into my business and I always encourage my staff to try and make it better. So it is well deserved.
What makes E.U.C. different from other brands in real estate?
As we all know, EUC sets a trend and other brands follow. We put in a lot of technology into real estateS and our integrity is very important to us.
How affordable are your estate and where can we locate them?
We have estates in Ibeju Lekki and they are very affordable. We have those with a price tag of as low as 1 million, 1.5 million. They are in Oworonshoki and so many others. We have different classes of properties and we try to be selective of where we invest to have the right landlords and our lands are free from Government Aquisition or of any kind of intrution.
Every business has ITS challenges, how has it been running EUC homes for 3 years?
Well, I have run a company for 10 years, so this is not new to me. I have been running companies since I was 22 years old in the United States.
Running a company in the United States and here in Nigeria should be different. What are those differences?
I run a 24-hour company there, but here in Nigeria, it is much easier because you have some time to yourself. Most people call me a workaholic, but I am used to it because that is what I do for a living and I try to do it well to an enviable height.
