After Telecom Topshot, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem emerged as the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government in January 2018, everyone in the telecommunications industry knew that the former President of the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) was about to bring to bear his expertise in the  technology world into the running of the state. This is exactly the case as we hear that the Chairman of Teledom Group of companies has indeed transformed the secretariat. In fact, the joke is that the secretariat has gone from analogue to digital.
Dr Ekuwem has over the years become a leading light in the propagation of technology in Nigera. His companies have been behind some of the most important ICT infrastructures in Nigeria. He was one of the major contractors that worked on the Digital Bridge Institute in Abuja. DGI is Nigeria’s flagship ICT institute.
The Teledom Group which Ekuwem founded has a footprint in broadband development and deployment of technology infrastructure in Nigeria. His academic record alone is a pointer to the direction he is taking as an SSG. He is a holder of Bachelor in Engineering Physics from Obafemi Awolowo University. He also hold a Masters Degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, as well as a Phd in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
He once worked with UNESCO’s Networking and Radio Propagation Laboratory in Italy for his Post-PhD research. He has also worked as Head of Engineering in the Department of Meteorological Services. He is a member of dozens of ICT and telecommunications bodies in Nigeria and worldwide.
